Really? Surprising. WebMD backs you up and also says that wild lettuce is used medically for a long list of things including excessive sex drive in women and swollen genitals in men. Handy!
I used to have a thing for bread made with a sprinkle of poppy seeds on it - something nice about the taste, but you'd have to eat a lot more to have a biologically significant amount of opiates - these chemicals are mainly concentrated outside the seeds and need concentrating a lot. But athletes who are dope-tested are advised to avoid food containing poppy seeds as it can trigger false positives for doping.
These days I love bread with a lot of other seeds in - very nutritious.
