Does True Randomness Actually Exist? ( ^&*#^%$&#% )

Now, Murphys Law is always good for a few laughs.(I always laughed at him, not with him.) He always reminded me of some know it all stooge looking off in the distance with whiskers on his jowls. Scratching them as if he were some sage.

Again, not impressed. Right now I have a semi parked next to me. He has a day cab and has just been sitting there. Makes no sense, he should have left a long time ago.

Now it sounds like someone is changing a tire on his truck. So I ask you.. Why didn’t this event take place several spots down from me? Do you think ‘randomness’ has a sense of humor sometimes?

Or, is it just like you and me with bias?

Uke8

are you hanging in a truck stop or something?

KingAxelson

Since I drive trucks for a living yes, I have been known to go there from time to time.

So, perhaps we should take ‘randomness’ in the flow, as opposed to trying to understand it. Missed opportunities mean something.

Uke8

Youre talking about apparent random. the semi parking next to you appear random just because its impossible for us to account the chain of events that led it there.
I'm questioning the existence of absolute randomness. imagine a computer simulation capable of knowing what every atom in the universe is doing. you'll be able to tell both the past and the future because everything just follow causality (chain of events)

note that this only make sense with a mind set that everything is made out of matter.

KingAxelson

The whole universe is made up of the same ‘goop’ is my understanding. So it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out, given enough time.  ; )

Uke8

Goop as in quantum bubble bath? Maybe its the other way around and we need to figure out what is time first happy.png
How do you feel about the Tesla trucks coming in the market?

KingAxelson

Elon can do whatever he wants as far as I’m concerned, I dig on that guy.

However, ‘liking’ is the friendly theif, according to Robert Cialdini. I threw out my rose colored glasses after my first ole lady cheated on me. I digress..

Here’s what should be looked at, if I get your meaning.. Roads CAN be built with a certain type of energy tile, that when cars roll over it with special tires, generate the car or trucks own power. Thus eliminating the need for internal combustion engines.

Uke8

was talking about this semi...

https://www.tesla.com/en_CA/semi

its all electric, and can do 300 or 500 mile on a single charge if i remember right. takes some 30 min to charge and way cheaper than gas. maintenance is also much better. using same old concrete asphalt roads. they probably screw with the data as always, but still the bottom line is that is just cheaper and better all around i think

Uke8

I once thought that electric cars are something new. some 10 yrs ago I stayed in Reno NV. and they happen to have the largest car collection that i ever seen. was surprised to see electric car from 1890 or around that time. looked something like that...

Sillver1

Cool photo! Electric cars takes over the industry because they finally make financial sense. mostly thanks to advances in the batteries.
I think that in the future we wont need to charge them at all. they will look back at us and laugh at the idea of having to refuel, or recharge.

they already working on batteries made of artificial diamonds and radioactive carbon, those should last for thousands of years without ever recharging them.

@KingAxelson, what is the bike in your avatar? I cant make any sense of it happy.png

KingAxelson

@Sillver1 That will be Ben Gulak of Canada riding his ‘Uno Cycle.’ Yes, it is electric powered.

I have provided a link as to it’s history and origins in the notes section on my home page. About the fifth post down now.

KingAxelson

@Uke8 So I saw a good portion of that link you posted. Hey, I’m all for living better, smarter and cooler if possible. I like what their doing at Tesla. Elon Musk reminds me of me of my early passions. However, I wanted to be the one who cured cancer before anything else. That didn’t work out too well.. I digress.

Now, Musk said that most trips are 250 miles one way. I doubt that, mine are usually in the 600-700 mile range. I don’t like going crazy on the safety features either. Take a new Penske for instance.. get too close to either side of the road, and then beep beep beep. Same with following to close. Musk made it sound like he’s real heavy on safety, so I can image his truck being a real control freak.

I do like the power scenarios he talks about, I’m down with that. But the steering wheel in the middle of the cab? (Up front) I need to resonate on that one. Again, electric is fine with me. Heck we need it anyway right? I’ve often wondered why they don’t line Death Valley, CA with acres, and acres, and acres of solar panels.

Uke8

yea, Musk is a big talker, lol. but 600-700m trip wont be a problem once you have a grid of these super chargers. besides all of this is new and both batteries and chargers will advanced. who knows, maybe we will end up driving on these diamond batteries. lol.  cool stuff!
These Semi's are not just control freaks, I think they are capable of self driving or soon to be. maybe that is the reason for having the wheel at the center? just guessing, it does look weird.

several years ago on trip to Vegas I saw this crazy project, you probably familiar with it, it looks like solar panels but its actually mirrors, ugh ones! and in big numbers... I think that they are motorized to reflect the sun towards central towers that collect the heat or something

Uke8

this one...  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivanpah_Solar_Power_Facility

KingAxelson

Interesting project, I hope they can learn a lot from it in the process. The solar collectors of the future will need to do more with less. For instance, there would seem to be a big push to cool the earth down. I’ve heard that some of these ‘chem trails’ might be one way of doing that. Particles released high in the sky that reflect the suns rays back at itself. So, if that game is going to be played to fight the global warming, I can already see it screwing with the solar industry. Not to mention our food growing crops..

I happen to be a big fan of buildings being decked out with solar panels, and water reclamation systems. I have given the matter considerable thought believe it or not. I would like to see that industry grow exponentially. Where I live we also have buildings with roof tops that are growing. Meaning that they are totally covered in some type of soil, with plants everywhere. Along with I would say an algae, hard to tell as you drive on by.

Uke8

I dont know man. covering earth with those solar farms seem like an environmental catastrophe. they should come up with new and modern technology all together.
like a bunch of hamster wheels...

Uke8

cheers!

KingAxelson

lol. The environmental catastrophe of building anything on the habitat of say, a piece of bacteria hiding out under a rock somewhere? lol.

Yeah, a new energy technology. Are they still  goofing off with giant magnets these days? Wonder how that’s going. What about lightning, has it even been measured how much power is in a streak of lightning?  Let alone the whole damn storm?

For some reason you’re new technology statement reminded me of something. I seem to remember a time, when car related patents were being bought up left and right. The ones dealing with fuel mileage, carburetors and such. Some guys that wouldn’t sell met their maker.

I heard outrageous claims as to what the inventions could do, so what? Let’s have it. Perhaps it’s time to re think issuing patents for energy devices in general. Maybe the ones that have been issued in the past should be brought up for a public discussion. There, I said it.

Lastly, I should like to say something that I feel is being overlooked. That is to say that children, yes children should not be left out of this conversation. All you have to do is ask them how they would solve this problem, in a non pressure environment. Ask many of them over time, and keep records. They should not  feel that they are in competition with their peers. It’s something to consider anyway.

Uke8

"biologists working for the state estimated that 3,500 birds died at Ivanpah in the span of a year, many of them burned alive while flying through a part of the solar installment where air temperatures can reach 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit [540 °C]"

but that wasnt even my point... I like nature to remain natural. covering the deserts with this crap is just, well, not natural.
beside, new technologies will emerge sooner or later and those abandoned panels will end up just like plastic in the oceans is right now. what would bleeding hearts wil say? oops?

i dont know about magnets, in fact i dont know nothing about nothing right now. lol.

Does true randomness actually exist?

KingAxelson

The deserts are vast, try not to be fooled by size demographics. I'm quite certain that just a few mega stations would be quite adequate to study the process, and deliver power at the same time. Its a place to start, not an end all be all deal. What would you tell the wind power crowd? Hey stop it, your goofing off with the birds.? Yes, animals are adorable and precious. So is your family in the dead of winter when you need the heater to work too..

"Does true randomness actually exist?" Yes and no. A poet will give you one answer, a philosopher another, and yet a mathematician another. Randomness might be understood someday, but not today. Chances are its just another natural element, now what? Pretty boring without dissecting it huh? That's why I like to go into details about things. The journey is usually more exciting than the destination. And that phrase my friend, can mean just about anything you want it too.  ; )
