Earth is flat. Prove me wrong.

Sphere is 3 dimensional.A flat disc is 2. Do you believe there is a 3rd dimension?

You present a most compelling arguement Senior. Maybe the best we've heard to date. After 416 posts we've seen alot of arguements posted by the "Rounders", all of which have been sufficiently refuted. The formation theory made us flat earthers stop and think, you almost had us fooled.

Nice try!

Flat Earth Theory does not refute 3rd dimension.

It is a theory that says Earth is flat, but not with only with 2 dimensions.

Dimensions are a tricky concept to process. If you're a string theorist, you believe there are at least 10 or maybe 11 dimensions.

Nobody disputes the flat earth has depth, just pick up a shovel. Therefor at least a 3rd dimension exists.

Now , I'm sure you're going to argue, if I dig a hole deep enough, you'll reach the other side and see the back side of the universe. It's been tried many times over as I'm sure you know. Unfortunately the Great Uninpremable Barrier has prevented all attempts. Something very hard is down there. The best diamond drills only shatter.

Tabula rasa?

It's been a good day. A flat earth remains, unrefuted by the Rounders, which try to disprove its existance by claiming the earth is a sphere. I suggest they reread the premise and prove wrong that the earth is flat. Not make attempts to prove it is a sphere, which is simply a theory after all.

So how's my memory doing?

is this guy serious?... I mean really serious? lol

You mean when my sail boat "disappears" from view along the "edge" of the ocean... I really am falling off into... nothing?

Gasp! Oh the horror.

:D

No. It's means someone has stolen your boat. How far do you think you can see? Certainly not to the edge, of that I am certain as atmospheric disturbances limit our vision, even on the clearest of days.

Well... then heeee.... will fall off the edge. lol

Guam is flat and floating. It could very well capsize.

a flat earth would have thrown the alignments out on all the sacred sites , look to the wisdom of those not caught up in modern day mythology

Avatar of ANOK1

Newgrange winter solstice , inner chamber illumination impossible with a flat earth mythos

so unless someone pancaked us since our ancestors built these places then im sorry debunked

Are the other planets flat too? Are the sun and the moon flat as well?

No, they are probably round. The Earth is flat likely due to intelligent design.

There is guess that even the naturalness of universe is an artificial of intelligent design. At some point of our observation,it will give natural explanation. But at another point will give anomalies. Some interpretation  of holy text also indicates this possibility.

So flat-earthers don't believe in gravitational attraction?  I don't understand why you would be so determined to defend such a belief.

They have a nice refutation against the gravitationl attraction, see the page and text below.

How can you refutate this? It is difficult.

http://wiki.tfes.org/Gravity

Universal Acceleration (UA) is a theory of gravity in the Flat Earth Model. UA asserts that the Earth is accelerating 'upward' at a constant rate of 9.8m/s^2.

This produces the effect commonly referred to as "gravity".

The traditional theory of gravitation (e.g. Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation, General Theory of Relativity, etc) is incompatible with the Flat Earth Model because it requires a large, spherical mass pulling objects uniformly toward its center.

Right then, let's say the mass of flat-earth is 3 × 10^24 kg (less than real earth).  To accelerate at 9.8ms^-2 there would need to be a continuous force of 2.94 x 10^25 N.  So they're saying Earth has some rocket boosters way way more powerful than any man can make.

Also if the Earth is accelerating at the same rate objects fall, that means there can't also be any gravity.  (And the atmosphere would seep off the edges).

There's nothing special physically about planet Earth, and no reason all other stars/Moon/suns would rotate around it.

these folks believed it.

The Earth isn't flat. Have you ever driven through West Virginia? Hills everywhere...

The earth is most definitely flat.

In bits.
