The Earth is an Oblate Spheroid, bulging slightly at the equator. As you move away from the equator, the diameter of the Earth decrease until reaching an extreme at either pole where the diameter is NIL.
Great Circle routes are used when flying between points on the Earth as they are the shortest distances between two points. A flight from San Francisco to Singapore "curves" north as the distance is shorter than if flown in a "straight line" on a map. (See below).

well most flat earthers claim the earth is flat as they don't understand gravity which is not a force like newton's theory says but a curvature of spacetime which has been proven experimentally. if you want to argue that makes no sense as wireless communication is based on general relativity and so according to you your phone shouldn't work? so can your wonderful flat earth theory explain how a phone works
The very idea of anybody actually believing the earth is flat is just so out of the question that I used to think this wasn’t even a debate. Most flat earthers just see some page like flatearth.net or something like that instead of actually studying the science behind the nature of our planet. Not to mention a previous point that hundreds of thousands of people would have to be participating in a single conspiracy theory and lying about what they do for a living.
why is this even a debate. its stupid that people actually get into heated arguments that the earth is a flate plane. even though there's so much evidence to say that it isn't, people continue to persist. it's completely unnecessary.

FWIW the plane of the great circle passes thru the center of the earth, the source and the destination. This I learned in a book and subject I can no longer find anywhere: SPHERICAL GEOMETRY. In plane geometry, the sum of the angles of a triangle equal 180 degrees. With a spherical triangle, the sum is greater than 180.

The mileage on that value are based on how a crow flies, with the Great Circle Theorem (I cheated with the internet.

The radius of the Earth is only 4000 miles (rounded for convenience).
Looks like Singapore and Silicon Valley are nearly on opposite sides of the earth. As 8000 miles connects both cities through the earth and a plane takes 8450 miles around the earth, Sum Ting Wong, as the mileage must be far greater going around the earth than through it.
The only way for this to be true is that the EARTH IS FLAT!
