Slow play, long elaborate tactical sequences containing flaws and oversights.
Effects of Marijuana on Chess Performance

I'm thinking that chess players are people too, and some of them have experience with this topic.
That said, I can't imagine anything wrong with combining two wonderful things.

i think you are wondering why your rating isn't the 1850 level you think it ought to be.
missing the obvious here ?

I have a lot of experience of the topic but is it allowable on Chess.com to discuss it?
Honestly I'm surprised it hasnt come up before. Given the fact that its slowly becoming legal, it seems logical to discuss it.

Is legal in Canada and in some states of the States, no? There should be a variant "Stoned Chess" with a minimum of weed in the body required to play. Let's make it happen.

Actually, I have considerable experience with this combination, too.
Your thinking process slows down, you get distracted into sidelines, and you overlook obvious replies from your opponent. On the other hand, you become more creative and more likely to think "outside the box" and find original tactical ideas.

Wouldn't help my chess at all. I would almost certainly wander away from the board, and forget to come back.
Or I'd stop thinking about the moves, and begin thinking about silly, random things, like: "What if the bishop moved in a curve, instead of a diagonal? ..." or "What if the pieces could step off the side of the board and reappear on the other side, like in Pac-Man?? ..."

These threads always get closed. It's still a good question, though. No one should be thinking of adding it in to improve their game. It only helps if you're used to it, and not having it would become irritating. Whenever you're irritated your play will not be as good.

I always overanalyse the board to the point where I don't know what to do. It's much fun if you play in person, on the Internet it becomes boring for me.

Pretty sure he doesn't.

It's impossible to play Blitz under the influence, at least for me. Can't really say it adds more enjoyment to the game, but I noticed that I consider moves I wouldn't even dream of when being sober.

Sometimes smoking can generate enough interest in playing that you get in the zone. (I'm always in the zone when I'm really enjoying the game, and not worrying about ratings, etc.) But yes, there's always the danger of fascination. You can easily forget you're playing a 5 min. game.
I'm curious if any of the players have any experience on this topic, or know of any studies?
