I found out about this game a week ago from the FLOSS Weekly podcast. It's an open source (translated: free) 2D space trading and combat game similar to the classic Escape Velocity series. It's cross platform, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
You might find the FLOSS Weekly podcast boring, unless you like listening to developers talk about their work.
I haven't played it yet, but I did install it on my old Linux PC to verify that it works.
