You rush to the back of the store and find a fire escape.
Run down the stairs and find a door to the street. You can hear a faint scraping and detect an odd odour.

You find a large sharp object, running through the door you see out of the corner of you eye a rabid dog leaping. You lance it's throat and watch it slump to the ground.
Looking up you see a group of zombies attacking people and a bus travelling slowly through.

You notice a pretty lady in the aisle adjacent to you and she smiles at you.
You ask her her name. She says she's called Cindy and curls her legs up cutely.
She's lost her family and tells you a little bit about how this whole thing started.
Later the driver stops off at a secluded hotel and you and Cindy arrange to share a room, for safety naturally.
Later you awake and hear a scratching at the door.

She said on the bus she'd been watching the breakfast news and they'd talked about how an immortality wonder drug had been secretly tested by the US government for military use and the drug had the devastating effect of prolonging life but with human beings in their most basic form.
They basically wanted to kill. You couldn't reason with them, the people affected. At all. All sympathy and empathy was gone. Fear too. They were killing machines but the killing was indiscriminate. The weapons could not be controlled.

The worst news was that the virus could be transmitted through saliva and the creatures involved were prone to biting and even eating their victims. It's not like the zombie movies you've seen though, these creatures are smart. The scientist that survive speculate that intelligence increases rather than decreases after contact with the drug.
It's hard to say though, the military base was quickly undermined and a mass of affected soldiers left in search of new victims.
These guys are driving though, it's not about stumbling around blindly.
It's pretty easy to spot one of these guys though. Though they are very smart they've no self control. They've a one track mind. All they want to do is to kill. They won't be having a gentle conversation with anyone!

You'd had a little moment with Cindy before you hit the hay. The two of you had gently kissed.
There's something about being at the very point you might die that makes life oh so special and sweet and in that moment you kissed her, though your mortality is in an extremely precarious position, you couldn't have been happier.
But now you want to defend her. You don't know how long you've got left but one thing you're certain of is that if she dies you're going with her. You won't be left standing.
