I was surprised when they took the picture and didn't have time to wind my neck in.

Although it could be said he was a bit lacking in the looks department, the sheer size of his neck was ample compensation.  It had come in handy on numerous occasions, the most notable of which was the time he had thwarted an attempted mugging by headbutting his attackers with the force of a hammer, knocking them out cold.  Of course, having an unusually long neck had its downsides, as well.  It was terribly difficult to shave it, so much so that he had quit trying.
