Does it get any better than this? :
Folk Girls
We heard Janis Joplin... here's another bluesy lady who died relatively young (of cancer) probably known more for her songwriting than for her considerable vocals, Laura Nyro:
Blood, Sweat and Tears did the most famous cover, but Mary Travers with "Peter and Paul" did a better cover (for my tastes). However, I like Nyro's original the best.
Dolly has such a great sense of humor. She always seems to joke around & be very happy during interviews.
When I was little I'd listen to this.
It's sad how Cass died. All alone. She did a good duet with John Denver. Also, The Mammas & The Pappas had a great sound.
Cass Elliot was a beautiful woman with one of the best singing voices I can think of. Dolly Parton is one of those charismatic people that makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable. I can't understand how anyone can not like Dolly. The Mamas and Papas had a great sound indeed, mostly thanks to Cass Elliot, but a less than savory reputation. I have mixed feelings about them.
Maybe a Big Yellow Taxi will take him on out of here...
I've got one hand in my pocket and the other one is hailing a taxi cab
Is there any brass in that pocket?
I'll see your Morissette and raise you a Hynde...
I'll see your Morissette and raise you a Hynde...
I don't know who'd win, but I'm sure it wouldn't be by a landslide

Oh, mirror in the sky...
Mirror, mirror hanging in the sky
won't you look on what's happening here below.
I sit here singing to the flowers.
So very few people really know.
.....not only the flowers but the little rollie pollies and other tiny creatures, crawling wonderfuls while sitting in a park under some tree!
