Free Speech on chess.com

Pretty quick judgement spending all of what - 1-2 days in the Club for open discussion. Members here have posted their experiences, some good/not so good. Anyway, the OP started this thread by stating along the lines - free speech is not really free if it's not allowed in the Off-Topic section. It was pointed out that Chess.com provides an option to discuss his topic of choice elsewhere. Good to see he finally decided to go there to make his own conclusions.

23 Million members ??? Please ...

Should read Sign-ups since 2007. The Active accounts only CC is aware of. A more accurate assessment is made by viewing the Daily log-in totals which average well below 100K

The OP continues to suggest any topic should be open for discussion. Being a Pastor he's put out Religion is delegated to a back room claiming Freedoms and Rights are being trampled upon. I don't buy his arguments.  The political quotes being constantly cited are not pertinent nor applicable to the setting here.

I'm hooked up with the free airways of broadcast TV. The antenna sits 30 feet up into the ether.

Those buggers, the pay satellite companies are scrambling the signal today, creating some kind of atmospheric interference. Why? It's Super Bowl Sunday ! I still have a few hours to purchase their product just to watch the game. Talk about an injustice !

nice hijack... Please tell me where I said any rights were being "Trampled" upon (?) Not sure why all those quotes apply to only politics (?) Oh well, you continue to judge my intentions without engaging on the benefits of open discussion. Glad you finally admit that a "club" for restricted topics is a backroom.

There are many groups that allow unfettered chat. But they also require decisive admins for when the immature or deranged show up.

kineticpower

Are there any groups like that?

Freedom of speech, as set out in the Constitution, only means that Congress shall make no law respecting an abridgment of free speech. It has nothing to do with restrictions of speech in other areas, such as websites. I don't understand why people keep making this tiresome argument

You should give credit to the source of the phrase.

It seems to me that this topic is very important, because freedom of speech should always be. We live in the 21st century, so the concept of freedom of speech must always be important.
But if anyone disagrees with this, I recommend click here and reading a little more about freedom of speech and its importance. I think it will be interesting and useful for many people.

The topic is idiotic.

You already HAVE freedom of speech on the internet. Just buy your own servers, set up your own data center, hire your own sysadmin and staff to run the hardware, code your own website, and you can say whatever you want on it.

Don't want to go to all that trouble? Want to use chess.com's website instead? Then you follow THEIR rules.
