Game drawn when my opponent ran out of time

Why does the game draw when my opponent ran out of time ?

It says insufficient material. I had over a min when he's time was over !!!

This happened to me multiple times, and always when my opponent has a lower rating than me and I lost points for that !

Is it an error ? or maybe a rulling thing ?

The rules of chess are that if your opponent runs out of time, but you don't have enough pieces to checkmate them, then it's a draw. So if you only have King & one Bishop left, say, and your opponent, with just a King, runs out of time, the server will award a draw, since there's no way of setting up a checkmate with just K+B vs K.

Thanks.

Thought that was the case...

But it is enough to have a single pawn to win since the game counts the pawn as potential promoted queen (or rook ect.).

OK

What about this posision. Its white to play and obviously wins after Nf2#

White is winning with only a king and a Night.

So Maybe it shouldn't always be a draw when black runs out of time?
