I'm not saying that you are not gifted. I don't know. But, I am pointing out that you keep offering pretty compelling negative evidence.

I will have to commit suicide if it turns out that I'm not at least gifted. Seriously. I can't stand losing to anyone anymore. It is doubtful that those kids whom I lost to in those competitions in high school have higher IQs than me. They were in the gifted program while I was not, but I don't believe I was ever tested in elementary school and middle school. I was tested in high school, but I didn't get in most likely because of the mediocre recommendation letter by one of the most hateful people I came to know. The online IQ tests may or may not accurately measure my intelligence, but what makes you think so? A "real" IQ test can't be any different.

So you already took an IQ test...

Why don't you ask for the results instead of speculating and doing useless online IQ tests?

The results did not include the IQ, and I've lost the results long ago. I tried contacting the GT office, but they didn't answer. Pretty pathetic on their part.

And haven't you taken another one?

Sorry to tell you, but no matter how smart you are, you’re going to lose to someone at some point. Either accept it and work harder or deny it and commit suicide. Your choice.

Below 115 could be called mediocre. The Mensa qualification level is 130. Less than one person in ten thousand has an IQ of 160+.

Your figures are ludicrous.

Yeah, IQs of 160, 180, 200 are mostly fiction. They're used as a plot point, like a game of chess, to tell the audience a character is really clever.

In real life an IQ of 130 is very good. IIRC 145 is "genius" level.

And honestly, I wonder if anything higher than 115 or 130 even has an impact. I assume after that point there are more important factors for a person's quality of life, or contribution to humanity, like childhood, personality, health, and wealth.

To you, but not to me. The best of the best have IQs above 160.

In movies and pop culture, sure.

In fact it's circular... they're successful so they have high IQ, and we know they have high IQ because they're successful.

In reality though, for example, Kasparov had a 1 in a billion chess talent, but an iq rarity of only 1 in 100.

In any case I'm not even sure if you're a troll, so it may not be worth responding to you.

No. My IQ could either be mediocre (below 160) or extraordinary (160+). Those online IQ tests results are probably deflated or inflated. I don't know.

Why haven't you?

Gifted people do not obsess over being recognized as a genius.

Only comic-book villains do that.

blueemu

I seriously doubt that "the perfect human" would spend so much time fixated on this topic.

They would more likely go out and accomplish something.

People are (and SHOULD BE) famous for what they do.

Not for what they are, or claim to be.

None of my teachers recommended me later? They probably didn't even know I wasn't in the GT program, because, to them, I was "smart" because of my high class rank, which is one of the most least likely indicators of intelligence.

You didn't answer the question...

Yes, I did. I've already said that I'll be taking IQ tests later this year. I wasn't obsessed about IQ scores as I am now.

That's not related to what I asked.

All right. Describe the compelling negative evidence that you spoke about. I don't understand how I'm not gifted.

Online IQ tests are click-bait. Most of them want you to share your scores on social media with a link for others to take the test. In this manner, they gain access the to sort of personal information they seek. Naturally, such schemes work best if the test validates people's self-perceptions.

I've got a little gem of wisdom for you... one that I've picked up gradually over my 62 years of living on this planet. I'm probably throwing it away ("casting pearls before swine") since you are likely just going to ignore it, but it's worth a try:

Many people in this world are unhappy. If you asked them why they are unhappy, they would give you various excuses like "don't have money" or "don't have a fancy car" or "don't have a genius-level IQ", or "don't have a super-model girlfriend"...

... but if you analyze the situation logically, they are not unhappy because they don't have a specific thing. They are unhappy because they don't have that thing and want it.

It is the frustrated sense of attachment that causes unhappiness, not the presence or absence of some particular material object.

If you are willing to make the leap and give up the sense of attachment, this clears away the emotional dead-wood and allows you to be happy.

Just my 2 cents (Canadian).

Some people find happiness in the pursuit of what they want, in the journey itself. I want a wild turkey in my freezer and do not have one. The season ends tomorrow, so I expect to get up way too early in the morning and set out in pursuit. If I fail, I will not be unhappy, despite not having what I want, because the pursuit is the real goal.

If you want a high IQ, study more. You can increase it.

That looks an awful lot like Buddhism.

Hi. No, it isn't Buddhism, because Buddhism is essentially pessimistic, holding, as it does, that all mankind's efforts regarding earthly things are destined for unhappiness. Buddhism is therefore a corruption of the reality that `essentially it is only "not living in the moment" that creates unhappiness, due to detachment to things that are not of the moment, so that such people are incapable of finding happiness.

The gist is the same although you are right, buddhism takes the idea of leaving the material to a whole new level although it's not quite as severe as asceticism.

Disclaimer. That is not a comment about religion since many Buddhists are so silly they think that Buddhism is not a religion. It's a comment about being silly.

At least they aren't as silly as christians and muslims.
