We should definitely celebrate Mermaid Hales Parcells - here she is greeting children as she performs at the Virginia Aquarium.  She just exudes happiness in all directions.

Pulpofeira

Yeah, she just can't hear them inside the tank...

RoobieRoo

She can see their love signs though!

Pulpofeira

hahahaha true.  in my house, it's a whole frozen pizza for one.

and money.   just yesterday, I wanted his blanket.  He says, "15 bucks"...I said..."nope".   Then he goes, 20 dollars..25 dollars..I go,"that's not how you negotiate!" ....so he drops it down to 17 dollars.

by that time, I was done negotiating.  i'll let him mull on that for a few days.

17 bucks, what a bargain! I was out £150 for a track suit and a Hugo Boss T-shirt yesterday.  £35 for a flippin t-shirt.  Who pays £35 for a T-shirt!!!  I do! I don't even get hung on it anymore, i just hand out the momo and skulk away mumbling about being ripped off and how my T-shirts only cost £4 from ASDA (waltmart)

?  Jumping through hoops would cost me more than I could afford!  A tenner gets civility......for a short while....

Firstplay

and teaching her negotiating skills from a young age is something I've regretted now and again.....

RoobieRoo

bwahaha civility for a tenner and a bargain at that!

Firstplay

Aye!!  Should count my blessings I 'spose.

In case somebody missed it, here is an article about Girl Power In Chess by GM Gregory Serper.

JFSebastianKnight

A wonderful game gallery, a couple of interesting photographs (I made a try at deciphering the body language in the photos from the games of Hou Hifan against Caruana and against Carlsen), and a very interesting thought-provoking point of view on chess itself methinks. Worth a read (only for those interested in the topic, obviuosly).

I want to read this book soon:

Ten Days in a Madhouse

About a lady that pretended to be insane in order to make an investigation on the conditions of the mental assylums

A real life case from 1887

She was a journalist

Dear nazi feminists. Stop saying men are all pigs. You wouldn't have been born if it wasn't for them.
