Speaking of modeling, scientist Andrew Hazelton called this years hurricane predictions "one of the bigger global model forecast busts of the last several seasons". We are at the very height of hurricane season, with so far just six named storms, far below average. 2025 was predicted by these so called experts to be above average hurricane activity, yet instead we have just one single major hurricane, Erin.

I think some of these so called "scientists" get so wrapped up in what they want to believe, they lose sight of what actually DOES happen. Once again Chicken Littles lose credibility. It is very difficult for me to take doomsayers seriously when they are so habitually wrong.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful summer.

The excitement and anticipation in their writing is creepy. One of the quietest hurricane seasons on record, after 150 years of mankind adding co2 to the atmosphere. Why is the weather getting better?

I agree. I was looking at the historical averages (for PDX anyway) and it says we haven't had fewer 100 plus degree says since 2019. So far we've had about the normal amount of 90 plus degree days, at 17, but 6 of them were 90 or 91. Where I live we typically get 20 plus days in the 90s but this year has been a bit cooler. I did notice that lately it's been humid, so even though it's only in the 70s, if feels warmer.

What is your take on cloud cover and overcast days?

In general it probably sounds selfish, but I love it. I like the sun more for boating and water recreation but the cloudy days are absolutely ideal for golf. No shadows, fewer people on the course, cooler temperatures for being out for 4 plus hours. We all know the rain is coming so I appreciate these types of days. That's for overcast days in general.

Today is different. The cloud cover today is especially significant. It's dark. Today is not only 9/11, but also seeing all the flags being flown at half-mast is very saddening. Just a very dark, very sad day.

Agreed.

Why do they want people to think it is hotter in the Arctic than in the tropics? Looking at this map, anyone giving it a casual glance would think the entire north is on fire

ooo looks like the "more severe storms" was a scam after all 🤣🤣🤣

It seems like hurricane frequency varies from year to year. This year was a complete bust when it comes to predictions. I suppose it's possible the lack of hurricanes could be due to global warming.

I mean to be fair they're up to like K or L but none of them are going to hit land lol, I've always said the weather is getting more and more peaceful regardless of if climate change is affecting temps or not, it's quite boring actually I like driving in a nice nasty supercell thunderstorm, will look into storm chaser/film jobs.

That's because cocoa, and chocolate, come from warm climates. They just don't want to admit their favorite ice cream flavors are Tundra Moss and Lichen Sandwort.

I don't like chocolate ice cream in general, even though it tastes great it literally looks like feces.

We grew up eating Baby Ruth bars. Chocolate ice cream doesn’t hold a candle.

And chocolate munchkins look exactly like dog droppings. If you ever join Open Discussion club you should check out my thread on this called "Food Grossness Spectrums". So many foods resemble so many vile things. Oatmeal/pancake/mash potato better looks like kitty litter and when you add the liquid like milk for example it looks like vomit slush. I wish there was an option for people to take nutrition pills that have the exact amount of daily proteins, carbohydrates, salt, sugars, vitamins..etc needed to be healthy, instead of having to do the repulsive process of chewing/nibbling/dissolving with saliva/digesting..etc.
