If you want to question the Bush Administration's justification for invading Iraq, the question is valid. Iraq had nothing to do with the 9-11 attacks on the U.S. But when you start calling American servicemen and women murderers and criminals, that is way over the top and completely out of line.The honorable tradition in which our military serves is quite different from the politicians that send them into combat.

The United States may not be perfect ( what human enterprise is ?), but the men and women who serve in our military are heroes, not criminals.

As I read through this thread I was struck by the pain that many of our good members are feeling. I would feel surprise if that was purposeful . I also felt that so many of you have meaningful things to say and are right too. 

Its a sad thing that in our world there is so much turmoil. We did not invent this. It has been this way since the begining of recorded time. It would be wonderful if everyone could agree to disagree without killing each other.

Still in the USA we are very lucky and blessed. In another less tolerant country we would not have the freedom to express such discontent. There are lots of people who agree with me too..

To make my point and not start another debate..please. There were 1.1 million green cards issued in the USA for 2009. This is the highest number since 2006 ! Than does not account for the 10.8 million undocumented guests in the country at this time.

When you feel frustrated remember that there is someone else who believes you live in heaven and would like to trade places with you.

If you voluntarily join an organization that has a long history of being misused, and that misuse frequently results in innocent people being killed, maybe "murderer" isn't the right word, but you do get to face at least a little questioning. "I was only following orders" isn't a defense.

To the above poster, if the evidence was correct, then there was a major problem.  You can look at these things on many levels, and you should kill people with kindness as well, but if you have governments breeding terrorists, that is a bad thing no?  Lots of money and weapons + terrorists can't lead to something good..

Touching on some initial claims, if  "Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it", and there are many threats to humanity, should something be done about it?  If not why?

Our first problem is having a belief that we can beat terrorism with military force. Go ask the British how well that worked. 

Or any other country that has ever, ever tried it.

Domestic counterterrorism is the only way to fight terrorism. It works, it's far cheaper than war, and you don't have to throw away what makes your country great trying to keep it great.

You can also, mitigate their responses, and attempt to prevent their actions, among other things.

That's what domestic counterterrorism is.

Ignoring the whole distinction between terrorism and civil war, our military has been so clearly and unambiguously successful stopping the violence, you must be right.

U.S. efforts in Afghanistan are successfully reducing terrorist attacks and eliminating the leaders of terrorist organizations. Let us mourn the 5 lost lives today and remember that they gave their lives so that we at home can be safer. May God bless their families ... and may those families never hear some of the things posted in this thread by ungrateful countrymen.
