I'm always non-plussed to see questions here and at various other sites from people who ask questions along the line of "I can't (get online/access the website/access the website features/etc) Pls help" and that's it. Everyone else is supposed to be a mind reader and know what OS, browser, ISP etc is involved. If anyone's interested, here's what you should state if you expect total strangers to help you with internet problems:
1. The make/model of your PC or MAC
2. What browser you use and what version
3. What OS (Operating System) you use and what version
4. What type of internet connection you have: dial-up, cable or DSL. Is it a wireless connection? Do you use a router and/or modem?
5. Cut and paste any error message(s) you receive into your question - verbatim.
6. What security software you use and the last time you used it and the last time you updated it. If you don't know, update it ASAP and use it ASAP in "Full scan" mode (all drives, all folders, all files) - regardless of whether you've noticed any problems with your PC or not.
Not all of this info will always be helpful but there is no reason not to state it anyway, if you don't know one or more of the details above that should be stated as well.
The next time I'm burned out on chess maybe I'll post a trouble-shooting list for internet problems, if anyone's interested.
