I thought it was some thing to clean smoking pipes. I am realizing how oblivious I've been this whole time! I know what that kind of pipe cleaner is.

and why is that question so expensive?

That is an old American idiom...a saying...a phrase...it just means that knowing the answer would have great value to me...lol
