How Can We Live More Sustainably?

"Finding ways for people to live sustainably on Earth is growing more urgent every year. With the world population projected to reach 9 billion by 2050, there will be even more pressure on deserts, grasslands, forests, and other natural resources to provide food, energy, transportation and housing for a growing, hungry world. These activities further stress already fragmented natural areas that are reeling from deforestation, disrupted migratory routes, environmental pollution and a rapidly changing climate.

If we don’t make changes now, future generations, regardless of where they live, may not have the opportunity to experience the same plentiful planet that we benefit from today."

I don't have all the answers but I do grow as much of my own food as possible.  I buy most of my meat directly from a farmer/butcher.  Avoiding chain stores is also a step in the right direction.  We in Canada could learn a few things from Cuba in fixing broken items instead of throwing away and buying new.  Planting food trees that do well in your area without much care is also a good thing.  Think before you buy the newest plastic gadget.  The more one can do for oneself, the less one has to rely on smoke stack produced 'stuff'.  Cheers Earnest.

Hi dot com.

Great ideas ef4 and Joseph! They Inspire me to do what I believe to be the right thing to do for ourselves, for our future generations... and for Earth.

I'm bumping this. I feel it's a worthwhile conversation to have.

Is it really that important to do our small part to live life more sustainably?

What are the benefits of a sustainable lifestyle?

What could one do today to move in this direction?

I think so.

What are the benefits of a sustainable lifestyle?

The future of our habitat.

What could one do today to move in this direction?

Something tells me you know the answer to your last question.
