I was bored one night and hadn’t looked at anything under ‘more’ (it’s called smth else on web I’m pretty sure), so I went through it, and found this

#2 that's kind of what I assumed it was a more or other section

Yea
I’m pretty sure it’s a more recent addition tho (I remember going on this back in the pre Covid years on my iPad, and it was layed out more like how the website is rather then the current app)

Miscklick when I was trying to advertise my club 2 years ago. I ignored OTF (I thought everyone were just a bunch of losers) and then I came back 2 years later and I was like “yo. I’m a loser like y’all. I don’t touch grass. I love this. (Jk I do touch grass a lot)

read through posts for a few months so I could have some context, then started commenting. I found I clicking off topic, because it looked more interesting then chess talking.

#1 wait a minute, so you found otf by seeing otf and clicking on it?! Wow that's ingenious! Dude the fact that you had that kind of courage to try something new like that is honestly so impressive. Congratuations

So there I was, bored out of my mind, my phone in complete parental controls lockdown. Only fun app I had was Chess.com. So I go in, and peruse the menus. I find forums, the Off Topic, and begins browsing. I see Dawn of Foxes [M] (RP), and something just clicked. So, I have Blue and Dragon to thank for getting me into OTF.

one day I had been messing around with chess.com more section. Checking out things like solo chess, vision, and clubs. I had also noticed that there was a forums tab as well. Naturally I was curious and so I had to check it out. What I saw is what you see on otf now. Troll and fun topics, but most importantly community engagement. I am wanted to up my social game so I started to participate in otf things and yeah.
Now I’m here locked away from the outside world forever.

I once had the privilege of playing a blitz game with the late great Mr Mudd. After the game, I learned about Yellow River and the Mud Club which was based in the earlier iteration of OTF. He referred me to his scholarly treatise on the benefits of eating hair, foundational to good health, posted first in this very place. There were poems about mud and hair. OTF became a haven of culture and sophistication. Youths now will never understand. It’s just ducks, ducks, ducks with them now.
