I probably only actually do that on my best day. And I'm better at debating something when it's not political. I'll admit it, I think I tend to have a higher ego than most. One of my biggest weaknesses. But I try to judge everything I see fairly for the most part.
How do you handle a political argument? And what is the best way to argue politically?

Fair enough. I'm glad you look at all sides of a problem.
I shouldn't use the word debate. It's way too formal, argument is better, but it's more of an uglier word as well. I'll change that.

I think some people tend to feel offended for no reason. I mean if someone does not agree with your opinion and this person uses facts to back it up, you can easily choose to take it as insult (I believed my entire life in this opinion and you just tell me I might be wrong?) or you can ignore your ego and listen to the other to check if they might be right (of course this might be hard if your ego never wants to admit you are wrong/outsmarted)
fortunately there are people who listen to each other and I believe "normal" people should be able to discuss anything
but once at least 1 of the 2 people talking has that kinda ego that ignores everything they don't want to hear, arguments will be useless, heaten up and only ends into frustration (who likes to talk with someone who does not listen to what you have to say anyways?)

Don't judge a book by its cover. I'm not new to chess.com.
There are those who block others for having an opinion, and laugh at those they block behind their backs with people they have common beliefs with. But without, throughout this process, giving out any reason whatsoever the person they blocked is wrong.
There are those who take everything way too seriously, and at some point are either worn out, or start raging. Or they just quit.
Since I'm a kid, I haven't been in a billion political arguments, so this is how I would like to think of myself having a political argument.
How I argue is I jump into it, honestly I should know more about the subject, but I don't. One of my major major mistakes, which can lose me the advantage right from the start.
I like to stay calm and cool during the argument, taking apart facts from opinions, noting fallacies should any come up, though I don't know all the names.
I question what people say, and give them something to think about. I don't mind a change of subject as long as it isn't idiotic.
If someone rages at me, I use that against them. If someone blocks me when I've done nothing wrong, my mindset is that it's on them. Maybe if I'm feeling slightly inconvenienced, I decide to make another account and talk to them if only to carry a simple message to tell them how much they annoy me, but in a different way of course, to keep my cool "personality."
What about you all?

Jack? JackRoach? (Maybe) lol...

+1
our brains are made to defend our core ideas with fierceness, like we were under a physical attack, that's something really difficult to change, making almost impossible a big change on our ideas, people only listen carefully what they already believed, a way to feel they're right, so unfortunately arguments are pretty useless

Okay, so I'm sorry for saying this to all of you, but I don't think political debate is allowed on this website.

It's not allowed, but people do it. At least until the threads get locked...

No explanation it had nothing to do with religion or politics
We have strayed to compiler a bunch of these because OT is just ruined and the mods truly aren’t doing their jobs
I had a topic closed and the mod said the reason was “This is going nowhere”
I screen capped it for a future complaint because this is kind of ridiculous their OT is an embarrassment with the topics that flourish

Yeah, with what the mods are doing these days, I'm constantly reminded of the "Soup Nasi (sic)" episodes on Seinfeld. haha
That certainly seems to be a popular opinion nowadays...

Um you wanna talk about politics or religion you gotta go to a club... But one that allows that though (like mine)
