in my opinion this is the best song you submitted for review. despite the tempo speedup happening seemingly randomly, it somehow doesn't feel out of place at all. same with the slowdown. whoever produced the track had a clear understanding of how to make a beat done to death and back refreshing. the singing is good, nothing too special but it still goes hand in hand with the beats. a 7

The band Weezer, either Green Album or Blue Album I guess (very creative album names I know). Blue Album is their most popular album if that helps your decision

Not trying to sound impatient, just trying to make sure you didn't forget mine

i didn't, albums are much longer than songs (go figure) so i generally have more time to review songs. that's why the only 2 albums i reviewed are albums i already listened to before making the forum

Oh ok

ok good, a review i can knock out instantly so i have more time for the albums

someone liked it when i did short reviews so im trying this new format so you can have the short review if you want but also the version with all of my thoughts

review: 1

reason summary: ajr

full reason: the song doesn't add anything to the table when it comes to radio ready pop music, forget about normal pop music, much less music as a whole. the only reason why i can sing part of the chorus from memory is because of simply how overplayed it is. the singing is typical for the genre: clean and decent. the production is typical for the genre: minimalist, clean, and easily consumable. perfectly mixed, which is typical for the genre. everything about the song is typical, including its strengths, which end up working against it to be its greatest weaknesses

teminite inception

sorry it took so long, but i'm finally here

rating: 5

reason summary: 1st 8 songs are kinda boring despite the energy, last 2 songs are fun and new

full reason: when i saw the cover and that this was the co-artist of highschore, one of the most overplayed custom songs in geometry dash, i'll admit i was kind of scared that it would be more of the same. nonetheless, you've been waiting for almost a week, so i hit play. first song started, it's alright. whether intentional or not this is background music, so i started doing other things, and it's decent at what it does. second song starts. pretty similar to the first, but still alright. third song starts, and i'm starting to get anxious i was right to fear starting the album. then a kurzgesagt sample? that's weird. but even with that, it's still similar to the other songs. so far, i feel like xtrullor's classic brostep album legacy does what this album is intending to do, but better. in fact, legacy does a better job at being listenable outside of background music. fourth song starts up, im thankful i noticed that this is background music. the 2 biggest problems with the record so far is that there's not much difference between the drop and the music outside of the drop and every song blends into each other, and every song is simply ok. im gonna play a game of chess (here's the game i played:https://www.chess.com/game/live/71946795935). alright, the opening isn't anything new. this middlegame is going right towards an endgame. okay, i have a winning endgame. even though i only have a few minutes left, i believe i got this. im the one with the pawn in a king and pawn vs king endgame where i got the opposition, i can do this even with 30 seconds left. this is a basic endgame victory. wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait nononononononononononononononononono noooooooooooooo. huh, we're at the 2nd last song. didn't really notice a difference between the songs until we got here, this singing is new and actually good. whoever's featured should have featured earlier and more often. definitely funkier, and this is a direction im okay with. a step above the rest of the album. moving into the 10th and final song, it's more of the 9th song, which i'm not complaining about. the horn + bass duo is a combo i never thought would work, but it does. end of the album, the last 2 songs carried tbh

with this info i gotta say this isn't the worst debut album. it's not dogsbody by model/actriz but at the same time it's also not born and bred by ajr

Pretty sure dude was sixteen at the time haha

certainly not the most talented but solid

loved the intros into most of them but then usually they’d drop in quality at the drop… ironically (or maybe not)
