How i learned chess

i learned it from my friend's dad that is in a tournement

my uncle and my father showed me the rules and how to move pieces

I learned it from a boyfriend.

I always knew how to play. Ever since I was fertilized.

My father taught me the basic movements of pieces when I was a child, but I never got into the game enough to think too deeply about it back then.  I've recently picked up Chess again since being stuck in Iraq, trying to read articles and teach myself how to play well.

What do you mean Fertilized?

I learned back when I was about 10 years old from a book designed to teach children how to play.  But since that was about 30 years ago, I don't remember the name of it.  But I never learned basic strategy (like openings, etc) until recently, and am still learning.

I wonder if by chance anyone might know this book?  It had illustrations of the chess pieces depicted as midevial warriors, such as the king, knights, pawns, with the rooks being guys in the top of some sort of mobile tower.

When I was a postman here in the UK in the mid 1960s,another postman taught me the game.

My Father taught me the game just prior to Fischer - Spasky in 1972. We followed all the games re-creating them from the newspapers. It was an exciting time for chess.

I, along with the rest of the 6th graders at Torch Middle School, were in a rotating electives class and eventually I ended up in a six-week chess course.  Coincidently, the chess course is the only class I can remember.
