I dont like final exams
In India, tuition is usually paying someone to do something that you should be doing yourself. Based on a week’s experience, I’ve concluded that if parents didn’t give a tablet to their kids every time they threw a tantrum, they’d do a lot better. Here, tuition is either to get your child to do homework (which they should be doing anyway) or to get them to repeat the same thing five hundred times. I’m not kidding about the repetition. That’s how one of my classmates studies. Parents might be busy, but I think we all can agree letting their kid stare at a screen all the time isn’t great.
I can’t really comment on the finals because I’m not in a sufficiently advanced grade.

#44 It is one of the biggest causes in recent years, but I don't believe it is the main cause. In fact I believe the internet is a double edged sword, taking your example of otf itself, many use otf as a form of escape from depression, depressed people being on the internet does not mean internet is the cause. I just think (again, in my country) not having that "escape" - which could be the internet, sports (which is why I gave the statistic of 48% on adolescents not having any form of physical activity), hanging out with friends, video games is a bigger cause, because of how much pressure parents put on their kids to study at school, go to tutions, revise at home that they forget about mental fitness.
Interesting take. Though, out of that 48%, how many do you think study for 4 hours per day? To me, there's not much of an excuse to not have any form of physical fitness, since you can easily take a walk anywhere outside to relieve stress. You're completely right about parents putting pressure on their kids to study and do well in school, but I think it's overexaggerated.
True, my whole point here is a critique of parent mentality regarding "private coaching" in India. Yes it is easier to go out for a walk, but what will you be thinking during the walk except studies if that's what you are forced to do 14+ hours a day?
Just to give an example, here's the estimated schedule of someone who goes to a nearby coaching center on a weekday: 8am - 3:30 pm School; 3:30 - 5:30 Homework and assignments; 5:30-8:30 Tuition; 9 onwards till they sleep Freetime. They have two options - Stay up late and lose your sleep OR Sleep early and sacrifice your freetime. Many here go to classes like dance & music or sports coaching on weekends, which is the only time for themself, but now they are taking coaching classes on weekends too.
Yes sacrifices have to be made if you wanna succeed in life, but I don't go to any extra coaching and save my free time, then how do I get good marks? Because Coaching teaches the same goddamn thing that is taught in school, if you just pay attention in class you won't need it, and parents don't seem to understand that.
There are students who need extra assistance, but a fact is everyone has some strengths and weaknesses, if parents sit for a day with their children and talk about what concepts they are struggling in, they could opt for personalized coaching for their children focusing on their weaknesses, not the "that one coaching center which your cousin studies in and got good marks".

My parents aren't very strict. They allow you to make the choice on whether or not to pay attention and get good grades. I get decent grades, with mostly A's and B's, and have tons of free time to do whatever I want, such as OTF, playing sports, or just hanging out with friends. If I had to do schoolwork from the time I woke up until 9:00, I would question whether living was for me. So I can understand higher percentages of depression and stress. Thanks for putting that into perspective.

In India, if you aren’t a ‘perfect child’, you’re going to need to wake up early in the morning, read your textbooks, go to school, come back, drink milk and go back to coaching that you shouldn’t have to do in the first place. The high schoolers that I know (kind of) are only free when they’re asleep.
Most of the time, you’re not studying. You’re just mindlessly copying and repeating. It’s just stupid. High schoolers shouldn’t have to study all day and still get mediocre grades.

I feel terrible for each and every one of you. I like America.

You don’t need to worry about me. As long as you don’t lose your cool and get about 90% on everything (which is pretty easy as long as you read the textbooks), you’re a ‘perfect child’. And my parents won’t be sending me to coaching classes, ever.
But if I would say in our school final exams are great anyone reading in dav
