ok
Then why do you keep reading them?
How do I know whether they truly mean it or not? They could be serious about it, I can’t make the assumption that they’re not serious.
I don’t feel like logging in these days
Well, ok. Then don't log in! You might want to come back later if you're bored or something.
Bye
Ok, is anybody hungry, shall I order pizza?
congrandolor, I like the pineapple, cheese, and ham pizza ![]()
Don't kill your accounts, dudes...! I've had THIS account for eons.. made it waaaay back when I was in college.. "Chess.com" was still knee-high to a grasshopper.. I just kinda fell away from chess and didn't log back into this site for over a decade I believe! My father--who has had the chess affliction for most of his life and certainly he's had it for my whole life--has kinda tricked me into going to a chess tournament here in late February, 2020, so I figured I'd brush up on my chess! Kinda getting the chess bug all over again!

Go out and get a light colored wooden board, and a dark colored wooden board, find an older friend or an uncle who likes to do woodwork, and y'all should make a chess board! It's an interesting process, the board itself is worth a couple hundred bucks (but you don't spend nearly that much), and it's freaking awesome to study and play on a chessboard that you helped to make!
Good luck in the tournament
Thanks! I don't really expect to do well... But I'm kinda glad that it's gotten me back into chess. Of all the hobbies I've pursued, chess can certainly be one of the cheaper ones.
Yeah, but fishing can get expensive! Two summers ago I got into kayak fishing in the local lakes, rivers, and ponds.. and it is extremely fun! But the equipment can get expensive.. then you gotta account for the cost of gasoline, the licenses to fish, the fishing bait (minnows, worms, crickets, etc..)....
With chess I can literally just scratch a couple of my chess.com games on a piece of paper, put that paper in my chess bag, and take the game every and anywhere. [=
@Jaws_2 -- how about the pieces, though. Splicing together wood squares/strips for a board is one thing. Carving out a knight is another... . Would love to be able to get to that level some day. 👍
My mind would take years of cleaning up for me to have the room in there for memorizing chess positions.
@Spacebux I thought about taking on making the pieces as well, but I think it would take me too long to make a bunch of horrible-looking pieces.. Here lately I've been looking at piece sets on websites like chessbazaar, wholesalechess, chesswarehouse, staunton, etc.. to get pieces that work with these squares on the two chess boards that we've made so far. The squares are 2"x2", which is a quarter inch shy of the U.S. tournament standard, and so the normal pieces with the 4" kings look a bit large for the squares on the homemade boards. But I have a set with a king that's right at 3", and it really seems to fit well!
The truth is simple: where else can you go online to enjoy a simple game of chess against other living beings.
All of these alternatives out there don't stand a chance against this site's follower base. National sites dedicated to national chess is as close as you gonna get. Niche sites are the only other place as fun as
.com.
