I Very Nearly Almost Died Today...

When I used to live in my grandfathers rancher in a wooded neighborhood, it was particularly snowy that day, and there was a lot of weight on the trees. I was picking up the mail from the curbside and walking along the side of his car back to the house, when I heard crack and rustling. I looked up and immediately started running. There was a good decently sized branch heading down on me, luckily the other tree’s branches slowed its fall slightly but i almost didn’t make it, since the driveway was a little icy. The car got totaled. I looked at it and the roof of the car was caved in a bit….

Once after getting off the train I had my earphones plugged in listening to something. I walked the normal path home, and was looking down at my phone as I walked, then out of the corner of my eye I see a large white truck fly past me extremely close to my left arm, because I had been slightly walking to the left instead of straight forward because I was paying too much attention to my phone. If I had strayed a little bit further left then it would have hit me and I don't even want to imagine what would have happened. I walked for a few minutes and only then it only dawned on my how close I was to serious injury or death. Maybe a little bit of shock made it take a while to sink in.

I try not to walk with earbuds in because it can cause you to not be able to hear cars.

Back in 1962 I jumped out of a B-17. I remember cause it was a Thursday.....it was raining. The problem was I forgot to put on a parachute. So there we were......falling at 40,000 feet. Had a pocket full of nickles but not a Coke machine in sight.   Fortunately, Ironman was going by so I hitched a ride.

You said “we” who’s the other person/people.

It's like "How many licks does it take to get to the center of the Tootsie pop?"

Answer: The world may never know...

(except for @RonaldJosephCote, but that's just a minor detail.)
