They'd definitely find out, and I'm not that kind of kid tho
Lel you need like 1k subs and 4k watch hours or something for monetization...
and at that state your making peanuts that could maybe afford you 2 meals at burger king
I know how to start one, I just need to convince my parents, probably more specifically my dad. He seems to think YouTube is a waste of time.
Any advice?
P.S. if you're here to say "no one cares" then you may leave
What would you be making? Hopefully not cat videos...

Probably game theory and minecraft. I don't have any cats sadly...

Maybe chess, if I could get enough channels
Well, if your dad is dead set against it, maybe there's nothing you can do. YT can be a great asset (fantastic teaching and learning resource), or it can be a complete waste of time. If you can pitch it to him as the former case and not the latter case, you might have a chance. Try to make stuff that's worth watching. If you're just going to put up Minecraft playthroughs, I'd say don't bother.
As an aside, the management of YT is horrible. You might want to also check out Odysee.

Well, I'd obviously try to make good MC content... it seems kinda like he's set against it, but I think if I pitch it right, like you're saying, then I might have a chance
