I was tilting hard at bullet so I built a Chrome Extension to block starting new games

I have a huge problem with online chess rage, where I've often binged for 7+ hours straight, playing game after game, and losing a ton of ELO in the process (along with poor nutrition, posture, shame from neighbors from my cursing, sanity, the list goes on)

I've noticed that a big part of it is the ability to just spin up a new game after a loss, so I thought to myself "What if I could stop myself from playing a game after a tilt?" Thus, I coded up a fairly simple Chrome Extension, where you simply set a cooldown period (any time from 1s to 60m) and after a loss, the 'New Game' buttons should be disabled for that time period, allowing you to either review, cool down, or actually stop your brain from craving that dopamine hit.

Would love any feedback, especially from others who struggle with tilt

Can you make an extension to block seeing the username and rating of the person you're playing?

You can disable seeing rating in settings

But you can't disable seeing the username, and if you see the username and it's someone you know, then it's the same as seeing the rating.

I'm pretty sure something like that exists already since GothamChess uses that but it's not too difficult to code up. Maybe I can add a button to this one to disable seeing ratings/username? It's unrelated to Tilt (somewhat) but could be helpful

Thanks!

Absolutely!

I just added a toggle to hide opponent's ratings/name. Let me know what you think
