Immortality or Instant death?

And unless your head is made of bricks, I’m sure you can exist the planet. Unless there are no humans left.

I personally would go for Immortality. Hear me out, you get to witness history happen, dictators rise and fall, entire countries and continents falling and rising. You get to teach history, you get to continue. Think about how much you could remember, teach. And you most likely won’t face the suns explosion. Billions of years in technology and time, you’d be able to escape and fly away, even if humanity ceases to exist. Sure, it will get lonely, it will be tiring. But eventually, you’ll experience other events. You might see aliens, pass black holes, so much. You would experience the death of the universe, and possible the rebirth. You’d be around to spread tales of something we don’t know exists. Sure, not all of these events will happen, but things will.
But I can also see the other side. Instant release from worries, from hard work, from sorrows. No more, nothing left. Whatever you think, I think this shows a lot for a persons mental state, and I hope if you read this, you say which you’d choose.
If you pick immortality, you have to witness every single person you love and care for die. All for what? To see some space stuff? To live forever, but always alone? I understand how it could be nice at first, witnessing anf teaching history like you said, but relief like that is fleeting. Also, immortality doesn't mean invincibility. You couls get in an accident and be left brain-dead. Forever alive, but unable to function or do anything.
If you pick instant death, it's all over. Hopes, dreams, regrets, sorrows. You'll never wake up hating yourself. But you'll never wake up happy to see the love of your life. And that doesn't even compare to the loss you're giving your loved ones.
It basically comes down to whether you want to burden yourself with infinite loneliness, or rob the people who cate about you of yourself.

Well, I can't argue with that haha

I would rather not be drifting in space for all of eternity as the cosmos stretches. Instant death for me.

Also, if I pick instant death, do I get to tie up loose ends? Or is that it? Is it like a button I press?

Obviously this is a tacky answer, but immortality would just suck. Eventually the universe would crunch together, leaving you just as a floating conscience, or everything would move so far apart all you'll is darkness. So instant death is obvious for me. If we really get bogged down, it might be "selfish" to steal my life from others who love me, but I'm no utilitarian.

I'd rather pick instant death than infinite boredom and loneliness.

And really I 'm contradicting myself, because I always say I'm against euthanasia and I'm choosing death here, which I guess is kinda hypocritical.

agree. And even worse than boredom, just sadness. What would even be the point in darkness?

Instant death. Very preferable to being forced to live alone for all of eternity after everyone dies. Plus, you never said that we'd get reservation, which means that if you were mortally wounded you'd probably be forced to deal with that pain for all of eternity without a way to stop it. (Unless humanity advances in technology to solve this problem.)
