I noticed the Heroin cough drops were put out by Bayer.
Back in 1925, Bayer, along with 5 other companies had merged to form a mammoth company called IG Farben. IG Farben, among other things, supplied the Nazi regime with a pesticide called Zyklon-B that was used in Gas Chambers. IG Farben was charged with war crimes and broken back down into smaller companies. Bayer and BASF, as well as Hoechst-Celanes which has a plant down the road from where I live, are three of those that resulted from the break-up and survived.
Oh batgirl! How do you dig up such history?
Don't really see anything inappropriate with a family holding guns in Post #17. Lots of families [safely] enjoy shooting sports or hunting. A book on beating your wife I can see as being inappropriate (outrageous, actually), but a father and mother supervising their children as they are safely holding firearms (with little Suzy holding a BB gun)... well, there is absolutely nothing inappropriate with that unless you're one of those anti-gun types...

These weren't inappropriate at the time it mattered. It's also somewhat questionable if some of them are inappropriate even today.

There's at least 4 not-for-profit shelters for battered women in my city...
I hope the volunteers, social and medical professionals there don't go see Gone Girl...or they might start getting ideas about these women being lying sociopaths out to control their men like Amy Elliott-Dunne...( cripes, I thought I cracked a joke there...but I didn't laugh at my own joke...weird...)
