Anyway, while remaining popular in pop-science stuffs, I was under the impression MBTI wasn't taken too seriously by psychologists.
INTJ; The Worst Personality Type

-
Despite its popularity, it has been widely regarded as pseudoscience by the scientific community.[1][2][3]
and
Although some studies claim support for validity and reliability,[106][107] other studies suggest that the MBTI "lacks convincing validity data" and that it is pseudoscience.[11][13][74][76][75][108][70][109][110]
and
Isabel Myers claimed that the proportion of different personality types varied by choice of career or course of study.[24][101] However, researchers examining the proportions of each type within varying professions report that the proportion of MBTI types within each occupation is close to that within a random sample of the population.[13]
and
The MBTI has poor predictive validity of employees' job performance ratings.[13][78][111]
Looks like 108.9%
Imagine when they get a little better...
"Did you lie about any of the data?"
"Yes, I'm sorry, I changed the numbers to make it add up to 100% because I didn't want to upset you."
Which would be even funnier / tragic in research situations.
"Yes, there are horrible side effects, but since you wont notice for 10 years this was the best way to get funding."
Amazingly, after going back and trying again, I found that Bard seems to be incapable of giving the full list of 16. It constantly removes INFP or INFJ, which are both listed at 1.5%. So essentially, it seems to have some internal limitation (that Bard will not admit to when queried) to lists of 15 max, and it drops one of the 2 lowest to make the list.
In any case the ratio is the thing and should be roughly correct, SF 45%, NT under 10%.

That's because the MBTI was never designed to evaluate job performance or career choices. It was designed to research and categorize Jung's 4 basic psychological functions.
The problem is mis-use of the MBTI to try and make money...which is usually the problem with most everything scientific when it goes wrong somehow
. They turned it into a poor job performance tool, then the public turned it into Astrology, adding nicknames and predicting relationship compatability, etc. This is not unlike, dare I say it, IQ and the problems with the public assuming IQ is a monolithic but complete measure of someone's intelligence.

Ah yes, early theories in psychology... as I recall Jung was one step removed from Freud... a lot of fantasy and coke. Not much science.

I never said it was a great measure, especially at a percentage point level. But the SF vs. NT divide is a little too ubiquitous to ignore, however you choose to test for it. If you read the older, larger Myers-Briggs thread, where people self-reported their MBTI category, there's a pronounced occurrence of INTP/J, far more than the 5% or so that the public tests at. I guess you could argue that only represents chess.com forum members and not chess players overall
, but still interesting.
It's pretty funny that the OP went after INTJs (6 years ago...), since INTJ/P is rare among the populace at large but common among chessplayers. It's like going to ComicCon and insulting Iron Man.
And sure, FWIW I agree with this.
INTJ-T here. (Omg a real one!) I was once part of an organization that got caught up in the whole Meyer-Briggs informational debacle. Many quickly began to use it as means to pressure others into performing tasks according to the false testing results. Others used it as an excuse for poor and boorish behavior. Yes, some made big money from it as well. They even paid “experts” to come in and administer the tests. I suppose it has its place, but whenever it comes up I usually head for the nearest exit.
Like dio I'm alternately INTJ/P depending.
I bet half that list I sent you recently are INTJ/P
.
(Wits-end, you were on it, so that's already +1).

Well, I finally made a list of some type. 😉
I have yet to met an actual living breathing human who takes this test seriously.
That would require leaving your Mom's basement.
Sorry...I know, I know...low hanging fruit. Didn't really mean it, but it was just sitting there. I tried not to say it, and I held out for a good 5 minutes, for the record.
It's like a game show host saying "Dora was so dumb..." and then the audience trying not to yell "How dumb was she?" in unison...

Maybe dumb, but as long as you find a partner who gets you...
This clip makes me laugh
