Is ADHD real?

What is ADHD?  Is it a disorder or a made up label for behavioral problems?

If it’s a disorder, what causes it?

Adhd is real. And I don't think anything "causes" it, that's just the way someone is.

There would still be a reason for it. Why is it that that’s just the way a person is?

ADHD is a common mental disorder that causes young people to create a thread/question instead of Googeling it themselves.

well, assuming you don't have ADHD, why don't you have it? Why is your brain neurotypical? there's not really a 'reason', in a certain sense of the word, for that either

What mental disorder is it that causes old people to cite all their sources from Yahoo news?

Oh, absolutely not! ADHD is just a figment of everyone's imagination. People just made it up as an excuse for their inability to focus, stay organized, or control their impulses. It's all a grand conspiracy by the pharmaceutical companies to sell more medication and make everyone believe they have a "real" condition. Clearly, the millions of individuals who struggle with ADHD every day are just seeking attention.

Totally agreed! ADHD is as real as a unicorn riding a rainbow. It's just a clever ploy invented by the stationary industry to sell more colorful sticky notes and highlighters. Those fidget spinners? They're actually alien mind control devices disguised as toys. And all those medications? They're just placebo pills filled with crushed candy. So rest assured, ADHD is simply a mythical creature that parents made up to explain why their kids can't sit still for more than five seconds.

Here's an example of ADHD. One day your creating an internet thread entitled "The Kindness Of Strangers".....you know, because you wanna show a bunch of strangers that your a nice guy.wink And then the next day, you insult those same strangers when they provide a news source......(wait for it).....for the platform your posting on. happy

I'm sure it's real, but I imagine that a lot of people have been diagnosed with it and don't really have it. As to the cause, my guess is that, although there may be a genetic part to it, one of the main causes is poor nutrition.

It’s a pretty heavily debated topic, but speaking as some one with it it just means it’s a little hard to focus

Though it is more complicated

It is very real - as a special education teacher, I can attest to that. However, I DO think it is overly diagnosed and there are many, many characteristics. Some people have a few characteristics and some may only have a couple of characteristics. I have been diagnosed with ADD by a medical doctor and my main characteristics of the disorder are impulsivity and talking unusually fast.

I *just* got a book titled "Brain Energy", by Chris Palmer. I'm looking forward to reading it. (It'll take a while.)

One more thing - it DOES run in families so I suspect that there's a genetic component in play.

my experience with it, it can be extremely hard to focus or just a little, but if something catches my interest, like chess, I can hyper focus and play for hours without even realizing how long it's been. I also fidget constantly, tapping my fingers and stuff like that.

Also I'm super impulsive lol
