When it comes to chess.com and having any sort of ranking, I am just an incompetent fool. However, I do love the game and want to learn learn more now that I have some time. blueemu knows what he is talking about, read his posts, they tell it like it is. Chess is a a game of hard work, dedication and practice if you want to get better.
He was kind enough to share his knowledge and experience on reviewing games with me. Much to my surprise I found that those games I won because I thought I was so smart were really just because I have some good habits and, my opponent was quiet illogical in how they played.
Now funny thing about the fellow you would like to call old and senile. To get him to help me, all I had to do was ask.
Is there really anything more you could ask from a player who is much better than you?

I'll be 72 on Tues.
I hadn't played rapid or blitz for over 6 months and I played a couple of unrated games the other day and today have been playing rated. I started off with 15 + 10 but I was blundering. That was definitely poor concentration because I seemed to be playing well. I changed to 10 mins and ended up a little higher rated than I was. I get the picture that I'm playing far better than I was a year ago. I was scared and seemed to be looking at it through a cloud. I think I may have had long Covid. I've given up Daily. Completely lost interest in it. Think I want to try to get my rapid back up to where it should be, by not playing too much and not playing when I'm tired.
Regarding losing 400 points, if you hadn't played for years and lost, you'd lose 400 points.
This is a game I just played, if it's still on my right button. Then I'll post a loss, which was the reason I stopped with 15 + 10. I don't care what the analysis tool says because I think I only made one rather weak move that got me into a worse position than I should have been in. Then I overlooked a mate in 1.
This was better though. This opponent was a half decent player and it must be won for white at move 30. I only had two minutes left and was not used any more to having to analyse fast, but I certainly didn't spot the winning line. Not bothered about falling apart at the end because the message all told is positive.
