Just imagine how confusing openings will be for beginners if white and black goes first randomly. It's a rule to make chess simpler. If you are offended only because of the colour, then why not claim chess is sexist as well since kings can only move in 8 directions while queens can move like a bishop, knight and the rook?

I think slavery is a bit extreme of a comparison to what Forgetful_Guy was referring to. Yes, slavery is a terrible thing and needed to be eliminated, but I don't necessarily see how whether white moves first or not has an absolute need to be changed.
So, new question then, can colored people in real life also then change from color ??

We also need to enable an option for players to start with two kings or two queens to make sure that the LGBT community are not offended.
Also Pawn Lives Matter. They should not be sacrificed just because it suits us.

The difference between slavery and chess pieces is that slavery harms people; getting rid of it helps people. Abolishing and banning colours of pieces is just stupid. It doesn't help people in actual need of help, it doesn't help beginners with chess due to either parties starting (which btw switches the king and the queen around) and no one is happy except the non-existent people it has helped. If you are offended with the colours, go get those red and blue 3D glasses when you are watching chess.
White moves first to keep everything consistent. For example, in chess books, if they keep switching the color from black to white or vice versa, it would be to confusing to follow.
To be completely fair and unracistictical, get rid of White and Black, and change the colours to Green and Green.

They could perfectly well be different colors, like green and red. Saying that chess is racist is like saying the wii u console supports white supremacy because its white. Absolute nonsense.

First of all, white and black pieces probably weren't racist. Maybe people just like the color contrast. Second of all, both sides have equal material.
Third of all, white moving first could've just been up to chance. When they created chess, they probably just decided "yeah whatever white is gonna move first". And maybe that was how it was.
