Is this my imagination?

I am an American, and it seems that certain nationalities, namely from the Middle East, will not play Americans. Games are often aborted and/or abandoned when I am matched by citizens of certain nations. This is not an accusation, as not every American citizen also agrees with the actions of our government, especially in foreign relations. I honestly can't blame some of them for being angry. Face it, this is a world-wide Chess community, and it stands to reason that political issues will come into play, even if not openly discussed. I was just wondering, though, if others have had the same kinds of experiences, or if I am putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5?
