Is Veganism good for chess?

Research shows veganism is not only good for your own health by reducing your risk of heart disease and hypertension. But also good for the environment as not eating animals and their products saves all the water and wheat needed to feed the animal. But one question that has not been answered is if a vegan diet is good for chess? Some may argue you may not get enough nutrients needed for brain functionality but assuming a vegan is careful to make sure they meet all the nutritional requirements for Vitamin B12, Iron, Calcium, etc. it may be beneficial as you may become more energetic and getting rid of milk makes you less drowsy etc. Wondering what you all think. I do not know of any great chess players that are vegan. I know Vishy Anand is vegetarian but apart from that, I feel like most top players do not abstain from meat/dairy.

I'm sure Vishy Anand must be vegetarian too, or even if he isn't, I don't think he consumes a lot of meat (Like most other Indians)

Yes I understand and I mentioned that at the end of the post.

Is a vegan diet good for chess, you ask? Well, the only way you could definitively prove that it is is if you get empirical evidence that actually suggests that getting rid of meat and/or dairy actually helps top players or players in general with their game. Otherwise, it would just be up to opinion. In other words, I don't know, and I'm not entirely sure my opinion would help. In general, I would say with the evidence you've already presented...yes, being a vegan would probably help your chess.

Anything that improves your physical health is going to improve your chess playing, and even its effects on the environment can help in several ways: cleaner air, more resources available for healthcare and other quality of life improvements, a less conflict-enveloped world (by proxy of a cleaner and more stable atmosphere).

Veganism and vegetarianism both help not only because the diets cut out things like red meat, but also that anyone with food restrictions is necessarily going to pay more attention overall to what they eat, and make healthier choices as a result.

Ultimately I don't know if any study has been done specifically about it, but it has been demonstrated that health improves cognition, and since the other things logically follow from that it's something I'd be willing to bet money on.
