3 Same! I still checked just to make absolutely sure that I didn’t do it at some point and forget it
I just cleared my blocked list, which were just IB accounts.
It’s sad that sometimes we block when we’re offended by someone’s genuine opinion or when we disagree with people. That’s why I hope this thread will inspire others to do their best to avoid petty blocking and keep good relationships with all, even those who they disagree with.
5 I might do that just to be extra careful, and then delete newer trolls from the block list when they are muted or banned

That is rich coming from you TheRealWilliam2. You've still got my main "peter-podnieks" blocked, not because I was a troll, but because I disagreed with you. How about you unblock me and we can put our differences aside? All apologise for getting involved in pointless arguments with you. I wouldn't be surprised if you just blocked this account too, but I am hoping this isn't performative and you are really willing to practice what you preach.
(Before anyone says, you are allowed two accounts as long as you are not evading a site ban.)

If an unauthorized alt got closed for abuse it's because of what you did... not anyone else. You need to contact support to get your account approved.

Just for the record I wasn't trolling, I just disagreed with you. I would never defended IB and I do worry that your "if you can behave" attitude is based on subjective judgments on behaviour which will probably exposes you to blocking people for disagreements again, just saying. Keep the blocks for actual trolls who are spamming horrible images and using insults. That's an objective judgement. Someone isn't a troll for disagreeing with you. Surely that's what this thread is all about.

Sometimes, blocks are needed to keep us safe from trolls. But the vast majority of blocks are not used on trolls, but on users who we have petty grudges on. We’ve grown used to easily silencing those we disagree with, and I think that’s not a good habit. So that’s what this thread is for! Here, you can commit to keeping your block list clean of any non trolls, as well as log your progress on any given day with a short message of how it’s going and if you felt tempted to block someone (or if you were forced to block a troll.)
I checked to make sure my own block list is clear of non trolls before making this, so I can say I’m committed to stay clean of unnecessary blocks in 2025. Good luck to all! You can do this!
