You guys and your conspiracy theories crack me up. It wasn't staged. The Academy is looking into taking action against Will Smith. The police asked Chris Rock if he wanted to press charges for assault and battery and he declined. Some times what you see is what really happened. 

Well, that's your opinion. Ratings had been going down for many years. Something conveniently happened to stir up interest. The Academy, if they do anything, will give him a slap on the wrist. Smith and Rock will be more popular than ever, Oscar ratings will go up next year. Everyone comes out smelling like a rose. (But I still won't watch it next year.)

If they knew any better they'd have posted an AMA or race to 1000000 on chess.com.  Many careers in publicity were made at chess.com.

He probably did his mental calculations before going up there.  I think he was laughing too until he saw Jada nod disapprovingly.   He figured folks wanted to see Chris Rock getting slapped anyway for any reason.

He has an open marriage so any contact could be misconstrued by his fans.  He'd have to really think this over.
