Strangemover

Around 10 years ago the song 'Life' by Des'ree was voted to have the worst lyrics in pop in a BBC poll:

'I don't want to see a ghost,

It's the sight I fear the most,

Rather have a piece of toast,

Watch the evening news.'

Profound stuff.

Honourable mention for 2nd place Rhythm is a dancer by Snap. I might have voted for this:

'I'm as serious as cancer,

When I say rhythm is a dancer'.

Not easy to rhyme dancer in fairness but still.

Thanks guys. I've read all

I think that it's as I said. That illusion remains though understanding is reached. We still experience beauty, choice, righteousness even though we understand that all there is is nature.

And you know these illusions are useful. A ripe strawberry is beautiful and a rotten strawberry ugly. Appreciating that we can eat an burger when we are hungry is a useful piece of information. And understanding that society will collapse if we attack each other leads to a harmonic lifestyle.

But you know we can understand that truly all that's happening is nature is doing its thing and in recognising that we can finally relax and accept the truth which is life as we perceive it is something of a dream.
TomGa
I suppose it depends on how you view useful.

I mean it all just is you know. But then we are a part of nature and that we recognise patterns to be a certain way has helped us to prosper to survive.
TomGa
The anthropic law don't you know.

I think for me I thought my notes in tackling my OCD might change through writing here but I don't think that's going to happen now.
TomGa
I think that I have to have the concept of choice in place to deal with it.
TomGa
It's more than dealing with OCD though I've learned how to do. I've learned how to be at one with nature.

What OCD is at least in part is getting in the way of yourself. Creating problems.

You can instead learn how to live naturally. Be who you are without experiencing the confusion.
TomGa
I think I have to accept that the illusion continues. The illusion of beauty and of righteousness and of choice.

I guess that's why we all are so desperate to view the world as fair. We cling to these ideas but really they are false.

Why do we cling? Because they fool us into believing we exist.

Because of the survival instinct we can't let go. We have to survive to matter. Literally.

At 750 I'm going to start a new thread. I can't bear lag.

Hopefully, giving 'Tom's 'Life' topic, a needed 'kick-start'! ..'Btw'.. as Even 'tom' himself states.. {in so many words}.. It doesn't have to be, Only about 'consciousness' .. Since 'Life' involves, Everything! ..{including, the 'discussion' thereof}.

Thanks for your involvement buddy

I'd like to look at where I am now.

So I've found that the experience of choice, beauty and righteousness persist. Despite my enlightenment they continue.
TomGa
Those three things seems to be indicating beliefs. I wonder what in.

Well choice is clearly about the belief in self. Beauty and righteousness. I'm not sure what they signify a belief in.

I guess that righteousness is about a belief in good and evil.

What about beauty though? What does that signify a belief in?
TomGa
Well perhaps we need to look at what we mean by beauty.

Say the beauty of a woman. She's beautiful she isn't. Or a flower.

We are purely talking aesthetics aren't we in those circumstances?
TomGa
I suppose though when we talk about a beautiful person we are again talking about the belief in good and evil. Righteousness.
TomGa
Anyway I accept all three things don't exist. Truly exist I mean. Beauty, choice and righteousness.
