'Tom' .. I wasn't referring to the concept of humanity being allowed to choose, what each person decides to be 'True'.. across-the-board, if-you-will - Even if, we Do have supposedly sincere believers, in the 'flat earth' concept; 'Garden fairies'.. and you name it!  [ :

As for 'troy' alluding to 'believers' supposedly "suffering, without consciously knowing it" ..N-O-T ! .. I won't take the time to cite 'verses' that speak otherwise; But, for one.. Considering, that I had my 4th consecutive, 'catheter' change procedure, done within the past 3 hours..{True}.. Believe me, I definitely felt the Pain, twice today; Removal, and insertion!

Quote, referring to the following image - "A diamond, is merely a piece of charcoal, that handled stress, exceedingly well"! ..Eg. An allusion, between the relationship, of Life's, inevitable 'stress'.. and its' ideal, hopeful outcome.. Ie. Character development. o:

A diamond, is merely a piece of charcoal, that handled stress, exceedingly well.

While this is true, us humans don't have the same capabilities as an inanimate object, and vice versa. We are never going to change as people, we can just put on 'faces' to hide our inner selves.

For example, we try to be professional when at an interview, while none of us were born 'professional'. We put on these 'faces' to hide ourselves from life, but at what cost? Are we supposed to put on these faces? Am I different from who I should be? Are you?

These faces are caused from external influences, like stress, mentioned above, with the common 'diamond proverb'. But we are far from charcoal. We live on the same earth, with the same or similar influences, but we weren't born like the charcoal. Therefore we have no capability of actually turning stress into success, however we can put on mentioned 'faces' to hide stress.

Again, this all links to what I've said previously about acceptance. We aren't accepted, no matter how you look at it, as we aren't actually ourselves. We are an adaptation of our fresh minds changed by environment.

I'm afraid it's not about 'being opinionated', which is part of our culture, nor about 'accepting who we truly are'.

That's the point: it's not a choice. It's acting according to whatever image is predominant in consciousness at any given point in time, which makes it random. The illusion of choosing is built on the illusion of an entity which chooses. But that is just another image of the same process.

True, we cannot change into better people--it's  an illusion. And unfortunately holding out to it means that one never stops trying, which is precisely why change doesn't happen!

Because change can happen, only it's not the kind of change one usually expects.

Non-Sequitur - Being 'mindful' that, no matter how complicated a 'task' is to perform.. Probably, one of the Greater ironies of this niche aspect of Life, {ie. 'a.i', or artificial intelligence}.. Humans, are well into the era, of being 'Outclassed' by 'robots' - Yet, it was 'human' designers and technicians, who made that possible! .. To the point, where 'robots' are in the preliminary stages, of helping to 'design' their 'better' successors! ..{linked}

That's the point: the successors are not better.

A lot of ideas flying around, I suppose we are all talking of what helps us and makes sense to us.

My experience I suppose is that we can get in line if you like. We are a part of nature however we look at things and we can make ourselves more comfortable in learning that we are making ourselves unhealthy trying to sustain the delusion we aren't.

I think the row row row your boat composer had seen the same truth I have.

Troy this meaning. I wish I could see it. You can't allude to it at all I understand. Perhaps because like Nikprit's peace it isn't there.

I have to work. Wish I could listen to Mozart.

I wonder something. I wonder if all of you have the peace you need. Let me tell you how it is for me.

I have peace in that I'm functional. Strong. Robust.

I also have a view that makes sense to me.

Where I'm not quite there is that how I'm functional and how I view the world right now isn't entirely compatible

I experience a choice whether or not to solve and yet hold it to be true that choice does not exist.

But then my life is full of contradictions. For example I hold it to be true that there is no such thing as true beauty but experience beauty nonetheless.

Perhaps though we humans can understand that we are nought but nature we can never hope to entirely experience that oneness.

For moments but not forever.

And perhaps experience is the key. It isn't possible to experience non duality. So long as a consciousness exists the illusion of separation to a degree remains.
Avatar of TomGa
Perhaps the very most we can achieve is to understand that our present experience is an illusion.

Much like we experience ourselves to be still but the earth is spinning and the galaxy moving and the universe expanding.

Guys we aren't still! And yet experience tells us otherwise.

And so it's the same with this I exist beauty exists meaning exists.

No nature exists.

Troy I'm calling you out.

If meaning exists then let's talk of this meaning. Otherwise you're asserting a position that can't be understood and to me anyway that can't be useful.

It's frustrating to me because I know it's possible you've seen a truth I haven't.

I just think it's practical and useful to talk about ideas we can explain. Is that unfair?

From having just 'googled, "Does True beauty, exist in our world {?} ..4 point 59 million 'results.' <- would that mean, what{?}

Anyway.. before one can read, as much as they might be inclined to, {since other far-reaching questions, are addressed}.. It requires one to 'sign in' with their personal 'e-mail'..{no big deal.. I would think}.

And, No.. the answers given, Don't necessariy agree, with how I would've answered.. Since, 'Quora' {free}, members, supply their own.

No, I'd like to see Troy's point of view. He sees something different to us, I want to know what that is. Maybe he has truly answered the age-old question: What is the meaning of life?
