Marvel Vs. DC

So, a bit of backstory: A bunch of my friends have been writing fiction stories here on Chess.com, so I thought I should as well. I suggested the idea of me writing a Marvel Vs. DC story, and they approved. Here is the first chapter. If people like it and want to see more, then I'll write more. If not, then no. With that said, enjoy reading!

                           Chapter 1

The Negative Zone. A place like our own universe, yet different in numerous ways. It was darker, darker than space usually was. Everything was negatively charged, giving you a sense that everything around you wanted to hurt you, tear you to pieces. Almost every planet here was uninhabited, and those that were, were controlled by evil masters. Several villains, such as the infamous Annihilus and the beast-like Blastaar, had made the Negative Zone their home, and had used it as a base to conquer other galaxies. It was here, in this god-forsaken Negative Zone, that Reed Richards was doing his research.

Most people back on Earth (And numerous beings on other planets) knew about Reed Richards, A.K.A. Mr. Fantastic. He was the genius scientist who, along with his friend Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, had been exposed to dangerous radiation while on a space mission. The result was that each of them gained a unique super power. Reed was given the ability to stretch his body to any shape or size. Sue was able to turn invisible and produced forcefields; and she gave herself the name the Invisible Woman. Johnny could yell “Flame on!” and instantly be covered in flames, flames that would work to his advantage rather than harm him. As for Ben, well, after discovering that he was giant orange rock and subsequently going through depression, he took on the name The Thing and decided to use his powers for good. Under the leadership of Reed, they became the Fantastic Four, dedicated to fighting evil with their newfound abilities. Reed and Sue got married, the team fought Dr. Doom, they became friends with Silver Surfer, encountered Galactus, failed repeatedly in the box office, and they became famous. Now they were investigating the Negative Zone, trying to fathom the mysteries within it. With them was Franklin Richards, the 15-year old son of Reed and Sue, and Valeria Richards, their 7-year old daughter. Franklin possessed incredible psychological powers, and Valeria had an intellect and vocabulary almost as great as Reed’s.

“Sue, come take a look at this!” Reed called to her. She put down the rock she was investigating and walked over to him. “What is it?” Sue replied curiously. “Look at this. I seem to have found something, Sue.” Reed stuck his hand into the dark air. But the thing was, it wasn’t just air. Reed’s hand disappeared, and ripples formed where it had been. After a moment he withdrew his hand. It was perfectly fine.

“Reed, what do you think that could be?” she asked hesitatingly. “Is it like a portal or something?”

“Honey, I think that’s exactly what it is. A portal to who knows what, but a portal nonetheless. Well, you know my motto: If you see something that could be dangerous, you need to test it out.” He gave a short laugh. “No, I’m joking. But for real, I want to know what’s on the other end. Let’s talk to the others about it.” Reed looked around for the others, and was disappointed in what he saw. Instead of helping him and Sue with research, Johnny was playing a game with Richard and Valeria, and Ben was taking a nap. “Excuse me guys, what the heck! You’re supposed to be helping, not messing around!” He exclaimed in annoyance. “Hey, I was just having a bit of fun with my niece and nephew, leave me alone” Johnny replied.

“Yeah, what’s wrong with me taking a nap?” Thing said sleepily, having just been awoken by Reed’s voice. “I know you told me to go study the rocks, but I don’t need to. I know what rocks look like, I see them every day, I am a rock for goodness sake!”

Reed just sighed in resignation and beckoned for them to come over, which they did. He showed the portal to them and explained his intention to go through it. “But, Father, perhaps you may fall prey to some unknown danger. Or will your intuition serve you well and keep you from harm?” asked Valeria.

“Don’t worry Valeria, I’ll be fine. I can survive. And even if by some slim chance I did die, you would still have Mom and Uncle Johnny and Uncle Ben to take care of you. Oh wait, I was joking, I won’t get hurt” he added quickly as he saw her on the verge of tears. That seemed to cheer her up a tiny bit. Then Johnny spoke.

“Reed, I’m fine with you going, just as long as all 4 of us go. We’re a team, and if something does happen, then I don’t want you to be alone. This is the Negative Zone, after all.” Sue and Ben quickly nodded their approval. Reed wasn’t too keen on the idea, though.

“But Johnny, that’s putting you 3 in possible danger, which is definitely what I don’t want to do. Plus, who’ll take care of the kids?”

“Don’t underestimate your kids. They’re freaking superheroes already. They can just stay in the ship, and if something unplanned happens, then we call them. Or, they can call us if they need to. It’ll work. Trust me.”

A few more minutes of arguing ensued, but in the end Reed agreed to the plan. He and Sue told their kids to stay put on the ship, to call for help if anyone came, and they would be back soon. The 4 friends suited up and checked that the ship was perfectly fine. Then the Fantastic Four, with Reed in the lead, passed through the portal and came out on the other side.

The Fantastic Four appeared on the other side of the portal, and were immediately blinded by the sudden light. Reed squinted as he tried to figure out what this place was. As he regained his vision, he noticed that they were in an alleyway of some sort, an alleyway that was part of a city. The light that had blinded them was in fact the Sun, whose rays were now warming the day.

“Well, this wasn’t what I was expecting.” Reed said to the others, and Johnny gave a low whistle of surprise. Sue looked back to where they had came from and, sure enough, she could stick her hand into the portal. At least there was a way for them to get back, if they needed it.

“Let’s go check this place out, what are we waiting for?” Thing exclaimed, and began walking out into the open street. Reed followed quickly behind, with Sue and Johnny in tow. Their march came to a quick halt, however, as they came out into the street and got a better view of the city. Well, city might have been the wrong word to use. The place seemed like several, very advanced cities all stuck together. To put it simply, it was massive. Large skyscrapers rose in all directions and created a beautiful skyline not unlike New York City’s. It was bustling with life, and trees and parks could be seen. No indications of crime were anywhere. It was a very clean city, that was for sure; it almost looked perfect. The Four didn’t have much time to admire it, however.

People had spotted them, and began screaming for help. “Everyone, please calm down!” Sue yelled. “We’re not gonna hurt you. We’re just visitors!”  “Yeah, that’s what aliens always say!” responded someone in the crowd. When Reed took a step closer to them, they screamed even louder and began running away. “This isn’t a good start.” Thing muttered under his breath. “Maybe we should just head back.

“You know Ben, maybe that is the best thing to do. I am rather disappointed though.” Reed turned back to the alleyway where the portal was, but a voice from the sky stopped him.

“Whoever you are, stay right there. I will not hurt you unless you deserve to be hurt. Just let me talk.” A man, dressed in red and blue, with a weird “S” shape on his chest, floated down in front of them. “Who are you, and why are you here?” the man asked. Reeds spoke for them.

“I am Reed Richards, and these are my friends. We are the Fantastic Four. Perhaps you’ve heard of us?”

“I have never heard of any “fantastic four” before, but for the time being I’ll take your word for it. Now why are you here?”

“Well you see, it wasn’t necessarily planned. We were out exploring in the Negative Zone and found a portal. We walked through it, and we ended up here. Now, if I may ask, who are you?”

“That’s not for you to ask. You’ll know soon enough. Now show me this portal of yours.”

“Now don’t you go telling us what to do-” Thing began, but Reed cut him off. “Sure, it’s just down this alley.” He led the way again, telling the other 3 with facial expressions to not do anything dumb. The strange man walked behind them, a weird look in his eyes. The 5 of them walked through the portal, and came out in the Negative Zone again. Their ship looked alright, and hopefully Franklin and Valeria were safe inside still. “If anything happens with this stranger, I hope they stay safe.” Reed and Sue thought at the same time.

“So, you weren’t lying to me about the portal. But I do wonder if your intentions are honest. I mean, you say that you just came across this portal, yet it wasn’t there in that alley yesterday morning. How do you explain that?” Before Reed could answer, the man continued. “And how do you explain me not hearing about you? Me and my fellow heroes keep track on all heroes in our galaxy. I would have known about you by now.” The guy looked and sounded extremely dangerous now. Johnny noticed this change, and immediately yelled “Flame on!”

Sue summoned an energy ball at the man as Reed went for a sucker punch, but they were all too late. The stranger pressed a button that he was holding in his hand, and the Fantastic Four froze. Literally. They felt paralyzed, and fell over onto the ground like statues.

“You see, I planted those devices on you without any of you noticing. They’ve been of great service to me so far, and probably will be in the future. And now that I have you defeated, you’ll see what happens to those who are evil.” The man spoke to them. “I am Superman, and it is my duty to protect Metropolis against all those who could potentially become a threat. I’ll just see if there’s anything useful aboard your ship before we head back.”

All 4 of the friends’s minds flew to the same conclusion instantly: Franklin and Valeria were still aboard the ship. Try as they might, they could not break the paralyzing restraints that Superman had placed on them. They watched in agony, unable to do anything, as Superman boarded their ship. There were several cries, and then silence. He returned from the ship, carrying the 2 unconscious children in his arms. “These 2 don’t seem like much harm,” he said to them, “But, as they were with you, I will take them along. If they’re as innocent as they seem, then I’ll make sure that they return home safe and sound.” He took out the button again, pressed it a second time, and each of the frozen heroes found themselves being dragged along behind. Superman passed through the portal one more time, and they were back in Metropolis, being dragged along toward who knew what, and with no possibility of backup support. The Fantastic Four, and Franklin and Valeria Richards, had been defeated.

To be honest, idk. I'm terrible at meeting deadlines, so I'm afraid to give out a certain date. I'll try to not make it take that long though

Star wars wins. Star Wars has Yoda, Obi wan with his wit, R2 and C-3PO, Han Solo RIP, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpitine. Name one of those things either Marvel or DC has. Can't? That's why Star Wars is better. XD

Obi-Wan's wit: Destroyed by Tony's wit

Yoda: He's pretty much the leader of the Jedi, but he's not as cool as Nick Fury leading S.H.I.E.L.D.

R2-D2 and C-3PO: Rocket and Groot are a better pair

Han Solo: Star Lord is better

Darth Maul: Just a filler villain like Ultron, but Ultron was better because it was James Spader

Darth Vader becoming good again: Loki made it more interesting to turn from bad to good

Emperor Palpatine: Thanos is better BY FAR

And thus the argument ends.

Well, I had a half-developed idea for this a while ago, but I never did anything with it. So recently I just developed the idea more, and here I am.
