                                                           Chapter 5

Two days after the fateful meeting in the Justice League Watchtower, when they decided to stop the enemy once and for all, they were all gathered in the Negative Zone. When I say “all”, I mean the original Justice League, all the other heroes that volunteered to help, and their army of LabBots. Superman had everything organized for their expedition. He, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern each had their own group of heroes and a certain about of LabBots. Each group would go to a different planet, using the teleportation devices that Cyborg had perfected in his lab. They could only travel from one planet to the next before having to recharge, but it would be enough.

“Ok, everyone, listen up!” Superman called out to the assembled force. “We have no idea what to expect this side of the portal. There could be a whole new universe for all we know. I’ve given each leader a general idea of what to do, but it’s up to each of them to act in the best manner. Remember, we’re here to take care of any hostile forces. If they seem hostile, then you attack. Is that all understood?”

“Well, what if our commander is doing something stupid? Do we still have to listen to him?” Blue Beetle, who was part of Aquaman’s group, questioned.

“Yes, you do have to listen to me.” Aquaman responded. “And if you keep talking like that, I might go tell you to jump off a cliff for me!” That shut Blue Beetle up.

“Also, there are a few people that I wish to alert you too.” Superman continued. “I found the communication device of the star-guy I killed. Several names were on it, and I have to assume that they were connected to this man. If anyone here the following names mentioned, I want you to report it to your superior immediately. The names are Taneleer Tivan, Charles Xavier, Stephen Strange, and Tony Stark. Remember those names, for they could make the difference between success and failure.

“And above all, be careful. I don’t want any lives lost on this mission; that’s why we have the LabBots to back us up. Fight as hard as you can, but try to stay alive as well.”

The heroes clapped at Superman’s speech. Several minutes were spent saying their good-bye’s and such to their friends. Clark, Bruce, and Diana had a quick meeting to go over their respective plans, and then dispersed to join their groups. One by one, each group turned on their transportation devices, and disappeared in a flash (Team Flash was particularly good at that). Team Superman was the last to leave. Clark took one look back at the portal, then started his device and went off with the rest of his team.

As said earlier, the DC heroes had no idea of the geography of the Marvel Universe. Thus, when each group landed on a different planet, they didn’t know where they were. For the sake of the reader, I’ll show where each landed. Team Green Lantern (Basically just the Green Lantern Corps) found themselves on Mekka. Team Flash landed on Poppup, Team Cyborg on Galador, and Team Aquaman on Gramos. Wonder Woman’s group came to Conjunction, and Batman’s groups found themselves at the Wraithworld. As for Team Superman, Contraxia was their destination. The remaining two superheroes, the Spectre and John Constantine, took a different route than the others, and they went without any LabBots. Their mission was classified, and only Superman himself knew of it.

While all that was happening, Tony Stark and Peter Parker were on their way to their mission. Parker had said goodbye to Aunt May, and Stark to Pepper and Morgan. Before they left, Iron Man also had a meeting with Cap.

“So, Cap, you think you can handle our ground forces?” he asked him.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. Natasha will be a great deal of help with keeping things under control, and I always have a direct line to S.H.I.E.L.D. in case of an emergency.”

“Good. I told Charles Xavier, Black Bolt, Namor, and T’Challa that I’m leaving you in charge, so they’ll treat you as an equal.”

“Well, I appreciate the gesture. Do you have any idea what you’ll be facing up there?”

“All I know is that Xavier is sending a couple X-Men to the same planet. Hopefully they aren’t too annoying. That Wade Wilson gets on my nerves, having him around is like having a bad-mouthed toddler following you 24/7.”

“Just shut him up then if he gets too annoying. Or are you too afraid of him?” Cap teased, and they both laughed. They shook hands in goodbye, and about half an hour later Stark left aboard his ship. For most of the journey he and Parker talked about former events; how the Avengers first came together, the time when Parker got bit by the radioactive spider, and that one time when all the Avengers pranked Thor for his birthday. Those were good times.

Eventually, Iron Man and Spider-Man arrived at Contraxia, a bustling hub of commerce and gang activity. As they disembarked, the locals weren’t at all surprised to see them, which was a surprise to Stark. He asked one of them if they knew what was happening.

“No, mate, we only just know that your pals came a bit earlier. Not our problem that you’re here, mate.” one of them replied. Tony understood then. “The X-Men must have gotten here already.” he said to Peter. They checked in at the nearest hotel, dropped their supplies off their, and went to the basement of the hotel, where a bar was located.

“If they’re anywhere, they’re most likely down here.” Tony guessed. Sure enough, he was right. A human male was playing a game of poker with the locals, and he seemed to be making a lot of cash. When he saw Tony and Peter, he gathered up his earnings into a bag and walked over to greet them. He bowed dramatically.

“Wow, I’m finally meeting Tony Stark. What a pleasure. My name is Remy Etienne LeBeau, but you can call me Gambit. I’m from the X-Men.” He had a slight southern accent when he spoke.

Tony and Peter introduced themselves. “So, Gambit, are you the only one who came?” Tony asked.

Gambit’s smile faded as he answered the question. “Well, yeah, another guy came with me. You won’t like him, though. I wanted to work with Jubilee, but things didn’t work out that way.” Gambit called out to the other side of the bar. “Hey Wade, they’re here!” Stark sighed very loudly as the other hero came over to them.

“Hey! It’s those BEEEEP BEEEEPS from the Avengers!” Deadpool yelled out, although he didn’t quite say BEEP. “Come here, you BEEP!” he continued as he gave a hug to an unwilling Tony Stark. “Oh, and this is the little Spider kid thing. Mind if I call you Itsy Bitsy Spider?”

“Uh, yeah, I kinda do mind. My name is Peter, thank you very much.” Deadpool replied with, “Well I don’t care, you little BEEP BEEP BEEEEEP BEEP!”

“Whoa, leave him alone!” Stark said, putting himself between the two. “Yeah, Wade, just chill out.” Gambit put in. “Guys, guys, it was a joke! I was joking, ok? Tom Holland is cute; I would never hurt him.” Deadpool said.

“Wait, who’s Tom Holland?” The others asked in unison. “Never mind, it’s an inside joke.” Wade responded. The others were confused, but when they looked away Deadpool glanced up at you, the reader, and winked.

“Well Peter, Remy, Wade, we have work to do.” Stark said. “Let’s get at it.”

Commissioner Jim Gordon was not happy with the current situation. Yes, the crime rate had dropped significantly in Gotham, Metropolis, Central City, and beyond. Yes, the police were easily taking care of what small criminals were still around. But that was no excuse to send all the heroes out on a mission in some distant galaxy. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, all the bastions of freedom, were gone. It didn’t seem quite right.

Gordon went over the list of criminals he had. Harley Quinn: in prison. Eobard Thawne: whereabouts unknown. Bizzaro: presumed dead. Everything seemed to be under control. Yet he didn’t feel quite at ease.

“You’re just paranoid, Jim.” he told himself. Nothing to worry about.” He instead focused on his cup of coffee and the newspaper he held in his hand. He started reading the comics section, and had a few laughs. His attention was diverted by the sound of his phone ringing. He picked it up and answered, saying, “This is Commissioner Gordon.”

A frantic voice came from the other side. “Commissioner, this is the Police Chief. We have a problem. There’s been a breakout at Arkham Asylum!

That's 200 trillion comments

1 Post a minute = 60 per hour

60 Posts an hour = 1,440 per day

1,440 Posts a day = 525,600 per year

525,600 Posts a year = 52,560,000 per century

And we're not even close to 100 million with that number. I don't think I'm popular enough to get 2 trillion comments XD
