please note at least one of the 3-word and 5-word stories have a bad post in them, i am just alerting the moderators. I'd like to be able to browse these forums without seeing any offensive junk.

Why on Earth would anyone even want to browse 3 word story? weird! That particular thread runs to about 1200 posts, and you're complaining about one deviant post? Get a life and start "doing" rather than "knocking" other people.

theres loads of other forums to view on here! if you dont like it view one of them! why are you trying to deprieve others of a bit of fun!

no. i'm with him. we actually should probably make it against the rules to post an opinion at all. someone could be offended. did i just break my own rule?

There is a link at the bottom of every page called "Report Abuse". Using this link to report offensive language in the forums is more efficient than creating a forum thread about it. The admin staff wants to keep offensive material off these forums as much as you do, but we can't expect them to read every nonsensical thread out there. If you report it, they will erase it.

There simply isn't enough time to read every bit of content at chess.com, certainly not all the posts in the forum.  Moderators and admin do what they can, but as Loomis said above, the members of chess.com need to report anything they find questionable using the 'Report Abuse' option.

Yeah I'm guilty of getting involved with a politics (gun control) thread...and me thinks that's hands off too.

i think we are going to soon drop OFF-TOPIC topics from the Most Recent Posts list. :)

if someone wants to debate religion or politics then create a "Religious Debate" group and do it there. or a "Political Debate" group and use those forums. frankly, if someone wants to have a "Dirty Joke Group" be my guest (though the site terms and conditions still apply - no harrassment, no abuse, etc). just don't do it on the main forums.

It's not "knocking, if i were knocking i would have put the member's names. There are probably many other forums with offensive stuff. I want to be able to look through forums without coming across offensive stuff
chessviper
ill remember that

I think if ChessViper was insulted by something someone he said he has the right to express how he feels about it and you guys should get off his back.  He never pointed fingers, no names were dragged through the mud.

What is the world coming to?  I read what one of the things chessviper is talking about.  I assume he/she is talking about the joke about sex and age on the punny forum.  Chessviper ITS A JOKE.  I dont understand these people who are so offended by everything? Personally I enjoy reading all of the forums and I dont want to see the off topic ones moved off the "most recent post list".  I enjoy the fact that the forums havent been extremely restricted.  I think a lot of the topics are kind of dumb (i.e. prettiest girl on the chess.com) but I think its interesting that they are there. Eric I hope you wont let the minority opinion change the way the site is.

The main problem with "offensive" material is, what makes it offensive! If one or two people find something offensive does the mean we have to take there opinions to heart and then do what they say, like remove the offensive post? If that is true and we respect their point of view then we must also respect the point of view of ANY offensive post someone may point out regardless of whether or not we find it offensive.

I might find a post that does not agree with my own opinion of something in which case it would offend me. Therefore we would have to delete that and any and all posts that I, or you, disagree with because they offend me or because they offend anyone else!

The problem stems from how touchy we are about certain subjects. I for one am very open minded. This does not mean that I dont' get offended but I would rather respect the opinions of others than "burn books" so to speak.
