you saved me......again.....thankyou<3
for today's pick we have will wood and the tapeworm's infamous "dr. sunshine is Dead" x.x a song that makes me feel like a voodoo doctor rambling down the streets of nola carrying someone else's amputated arm beneath his coat
i tried to get the musick video but youtube asked me to verify my age with my ID? seemed extremely sus so if anyone has a different link to the video put it down below!
my favorite type of musick is the type that conveys soso much without even using words at all ^-7 anna guo's "pearls dropping onto the jade plate" is a thrilling example of how an ordinary mess can be incredibly magickal when we learn to be grateful for the problems we encounter in our day-to-days, especially when transmuting them through inspiration to make meaningful, majestic art such as this! you can actually hear the beads pinging off the plate despite the fact she only uses traditional instruments to create the context for this event- a small occurrence that has a beginning, climax, and resolution, is a universe in its own <3
reminder: i hope this doesn't get lost in otf i'd love for others to post songs that envelope them as well! until then i'll just keep posting songs that do the same for me (: more tomorrow,
love moma
welcome(:
today's pick is "fd up" by camp howard, an appropriate choice i thought for this forum on account of his line "need to brush my teeth / but i think i'll just play chess" which is something i wanna recognize the entire chat has probably been through at one point in their Life, or at least, i have on many, many many many occasions (how many manys are too many am i right?)
anyhow, age verification got me again on youtube so the link below takes you to their bandcamp. a great band 10/10 definitely recommend supporting them by giving them a listen!
the world that this particular song puts me in is how it feels to feel paranoid and alone, part of this world unwillingly and unprioritized in one's own Life. like, subterranean alien homesick blues, but more immediate, more now. i could be doing better things than rambling about songs that make me feel things on a chess forum, but what better way to start the downfall than confronting it head on in front of potentially hundreds? just kidding, no one's going to see this anyways as it will definitely get lost in the sauce of the rest of our songs
(you will need to delete the space in the last word, the forum won't let me post the video because of its title / don't curse kids you've got ur whole Life to do that anyway)

today's musickal pick is a dark onyx stone amid a field of buttery bright tulips: "ave, lúcifer" by the brazilian psychadelic rock band, os mutantes!
for me, this song perfectly encapsulates the sultry, light headed feeling of temptation, like when you're falling and forget there was a step where you were walking. i always wondered what the story was behind this song, but sometimes the mystery that surrounds the piece can be just as if not more enchanting than the message it's meant to convey.
in this way, i feel like it's the perfect song to describe the desire to sometimes know less, or simply to agree to something without further inquiry, which can often lead those unfortunate enough to not know better into a rude awakening- or their doom. people's choice!
we've seen this archetype again and again in fairytales since days of old: the hero who rushes into battle or some version akin to hell for purposes of her own agenda. even if her intentions are good, the temptations that we come across obtaining our desires have a way of latching on to the very purpose for our aspirations, confusing and inhibiting the hero's method of approach.
this song has the right amount of antiquated verbiage, paired with a smooth, languid tempo that rolls into itself like monsters beneath the sea, that it is very capable of throwing you against can the rocky shores of some discarded past, too strange and too twisted to ever truly be forgotten, rendering itself a timeless piece on the important role distraction has to play in our day to day Lives.
another one is "kiwi maddog 20/20" by elliot smith. feeling not so good today so i don't have much to say on it, asides that it makes me feel like i'm in a waterpark tube sliding through reality, catching glimpses of the possibilities before being whirled around the big striped candy bowl they have at the end in slowmo. there's sunlight and the water looks like flexible diamonds, people are laughing and i'm jsut happy to be Alive, yk?
I like this post. It’s been fun to read how you connect with different songs and lyrics, and how good artists can connect with you emotionally.
If you know anything about me, I’m a big Ariana Grande fan. My favorite song is ‘ghostin’, which you can listen to using the link I provided at the bottom.
This is a song written by her after the loss of a close ex-boyfriend while she was in another relationship, explaining how she was felt guilt that her new boyfriend was doing his best to comfort her, but that she was emotionally in another place. Ari almost didn’t even add it to the album, since it was so sad.
I think the reason I love this song so much (despite the obvious fact that it is a little depressing), is that the song is so deep, and shows that anyone, even famous music artists, can go through difficult times, and that it’s ok to admit that you’re feeling down mentally. Every time I hear this song, I think of all the people I’ve lost in my life, and makes me reflect on all the people I’ve fallen out of touch with through time. She did an amazing job portraying her feelings through song and writing, truly.
apart from that this is genuinely such a beautiful song(: w ariana fan becus she is so magickal and her musick so sparkly, thankyou for sharing the beautiful piece of ur thought process on it<3
is this the ari chat speaks of? i've been so confused this whole time
Yep, we take Ari very seriously here.
<3 hullo + welcome everybody <3
this a thread for sharing immersive song experiences with each other that could be weird, obscure, or just anything that makes you really feel something /\__/\ when you post a song give a brief description of how it makes you feel and the world it puts you in!
starting with lemon demon's pre-corded track to cabinet man is "ivanushka", and i think the musick video it's paired with makes it so winterwondertastic! it makes me feel like i'm feverishly ice skating across silver bells from a yeti who i stole his magick fangs from +w+
