...(hey, Gomer, in reference to your post #32, though, you'd asked about if Dolly and Loretta Lynn should be in the Country list----they are! Check out the original list at the top of this thread)...
I noticed that after I posted. I had forgotten Loretta was up there but assumed she should be there somewhere. I suppose a lot of this is a generational thing, especially for Country. The Country of my youth bears almost no resemblance to the Country I hear on the radio today. Likewise, a lot of today's country sounds like some '70s Rock. For example, this was considered Rock back in the day:
I just filled in a crossword answer where Reba McEntire was referred to as "Queen of Country". I'm not a country fan but even I think that's a little presumptuous. I'll pretend I didn't see it.

Surely The Pogues and/or Shane MacGowan and the Popes should be included here.
The Pogues and Shane MacGowan and the Popes??? Yes, why not! But I only had a Top 5, and if I add them in I'd have to take Feargal Sharkey or someone else out. I didnt have the heart to do that I'm afraid.
But not sure if the Pogues etc are musos the Irish are embarrassed by, and the rest of the world loves? I've heard even Bono is embarrassed by most of his own music

I do have a couple of their live CDs where Shane MacGowan says something like "Well, we've disgraced ourselves again".
