The most intense composition i've ever heard is definitly Pachelbel canon
so i will go with Pachelbel even if he's not the greatest
as for today's bands
there's nothing that 'impresses' - there's some songs from Flashbulb and Aphex twin i truly like.
i also love acdc, twisted sisters, rolling stones - anything like that.
i'm not into pop rock - or any type of popular music.
