@KeSetoKaiba, are you familiar with the all-female, Japanese metal band, Band-Maid? These days, the best metal in the 🌎 is coming from 🇯🇵 Japan and it’s primarily being done by women.

No, I haven't heard of it; sounds interesting enough for me to check into later ![]()
I know Japan has some metal music, but admittingly isn't something I'm too knowledgeable about. I do listen to rock and a little metal, but it is more select songs and me being picky than it is an entire genre.
I partly got into metal music through the Swedish power metal band called Sabaton. You could look into that if you haven't heard their music before. Most of their songs depict historical battles and wars. If this isn't really your thing, I also like several songs from another band named DragonForce.
As mentioned, metal and heavy metal aren't genres I'm as knowledgeable as some others, but based on my limited experience, you could look into those famous bands if you aren't familiar with them already ![]()
@KeSetoKaiba, I just wanted to recommend one other artist who does not get the props or accolades he should. Do you know the white, British soul singer, Rag’n’Bones Man? I recently discovered him on YouTube and now I’m obsessed with that voice! He should be a much bigger star then he is - unfortunately in today’s music scene, his unique looks may be holding him back(which is RIDICULOUS!)👍

Heard only by name but me having literally a thousand songs saved, it is likely I'll get around to checking out some of their music too ![]()
Me who listens to Christian songs ❤️
Nothing wrong with that as others have mentioned; in fact, as a Christian myself, I also listen to Christian music during chess sometimes too. This forum thread was just some of the songs I happened to listen to that specific day - not necessarily what I usually listen to or even listen to more often.
This was just a "funny" forum thread poking fun at how diverse my music tastes can sometimes be.
When playing chess, usually I'll play more upbeat music for obvious reasons (motivation, hype, time control etc.) and so I'll seldom listen to Christian music when playing chess only because the song tempo tends to be slower.
Define "Christian music" though; technically, the band Skillet identifies as a "Christian Rock Band" because their song topics usually have an underlining Christian message. I listen to Skillet songs when playing chess a good amount of the time.
Some of my favorite Skillet songs are Hero, Undefeated, Legendary if I'm playing better and if my rating is struggling some I might play Monster, Sick of It or Not Gonna Die. You Ain't Ready is also a good Skillet song, but okay now we are getting too much into one band so I'll just post here before I get started on other bands (non-Christian or Christian bands) I like: AC/DC, Queen, Sabaton, DragonForce etc.
The majority of my favorite songs are more individual rather than solely from one band or artist though ![]()

Karma is real...
You hit me with a big poem saying I shouldn't depend on audience...
Ok there we go..
You should nt depend on music either..
Jokes aside i hope you rnt listening to music all the time when you play chess...
As you have said your play shouldn't depend on the people watching you..it would be good but it won't alter my play
I hope it's the Same with music for you..
Online I usually play music and find it good background (kind of like streamers streaming music in games sometimes), but it isn't a requirement for me as occasionally I'll just play online chess in silence and then of course OTB chess is always without music ![]()
Any questions to my "randomness" today? xD
the anime one made me scroll faster than me running from security at my local arcade i thought there was nudity in that thumbnail
No, I respect chess.com's tos and have no intention of getting this thread locked. Besides, when playing chess, I listen to the music via downloaded mp3 files so I can't see the video anyway. I simply posted the video(s) to show which video I originally encountered that song from (etc.)

Funny but no, it just appeared in my recommended - probably from all the other anime videos, memes, clips and such I watch xD
Sometimes YouTube recommended is ridiculously "wrong", but other times it is really accurate and useful. That was one such video I liked having recommended. If YouTube recommends a video you don't like, then just don't watch it and ideally the algorithm only becomes more and more accurate ![]()
Interesting although my music taste leans more toward “suspense and drums”
I have suspenseful or dramatic music too; I should make this clear (if not already) that this is just what I was listening to in that particular session. My music "tastes" aren't always this way or this random-appearing. It is just that the songs (and order) have significance others might not catch.
For example, the sound of silence song I played right after a saddening loss the game before and playing the song Gas Gas Gas was when I started gaining momentum for a comeback again (also explaining when some of the music is more upbeat than others).
