I thought owls eat almost everything (no plants) small enough to eat. there claws are very sharp and strong
The not so obvious answer to your question is that they also eat other owls. They are carnivores. Also of interest is that they can rotate their head around further than most living creatures.
Almost as far as in the movie the exorcist😳😳
