It's the internet, where anyone can make an account and say or do whatever they want without any punishment. Not everyone is bad, I would say, and are struggling with issues themselves, further hiding behind a chess site to make others feel bad about themselves to feel better about themselves. Not that they're bad people, and more that they're using the internet to escape their own reality, or something.
