What is the easiest way to get good at chess?
I think "easiest" is what is giving you a lot of these harsh answers because you can't expect to excel at anything really if you don't invest the time and effort. However, this doesn't mean learning chess is ONLY about time and effort because certain resources can help guide you. Chess opening principles are fundamentally solid and is enough to get a playable position out of the opening while avoiding most traps without needing to memorize opening theory.

However, this isn't a "shortcut" or an "easy" way. It is just starting from the basics. As for the middlegame, the "easiest" way to improve on this at first would be to solve lots of chess puzzles so that you subconsciously gain lots of patterns. Many of these (often tactical) patterns, you'll them have a better chance of spotting in your own games. For the endgame, start with the basic checkmates to learn and the common "theoretical endgames."
Feel free to message me any questions or use the forum threads on chess.com, but my YouTube channel also has some of these instructional concepts (even if mine is a newer channel).

Best of luck on your chess journey, but don't think it will be "easy." It is a process of learning day by day and step by step, but if you are willing to do this, then learning is possible as with most anything else
ok thanks
