Yes. One very good member point indeed.
Seconded
This is a fundamentally flawed competition, it only appears to acknowledge those who have started a trolling thread.
Those who successfully manage to troll and subvert an otherwise "straight thread" are hardly recognised.
Actually no, you can nominate someone for either a comment or a thread. That's clearly stated in the rules of the competition. And in the past there have actually been many nominees who were nominated for comments they made on other peoples' threads.

It is like judging a box of chocolates on the wrapping and number of chocolates in the box, and judging only boxes of chocolates.
Shame on you Macer you are in great danger of bringing trolling to the point where it is part of the mainstream.
Please send all chocolates to me and I will be only too happy to judge them for you.
I like the ones with nuts in best, thanks.

It depends on what the nuts are, but for the most part I don't like chocolate with nuts in it. For me it ruins the texture of the chocolate.
Well then why has my enormous contribution been ignored then ?
The other nominees are one trick ponies in the main
Well, I'm afraid I can;t answer that question. I don't nominate anyone, or encourage anyone else to nominate anyone. I merely receive nominations, and as long as they're valid, I put them up on the ballot.
Honestly you sound like a mature sensible reasonable gentleman now, are you proud of yourself ?
I always sound that way when I'm speaking as organizer of the Troll of the Month contests. What makes this contest better than all of the other imitations that other people have made is that it is governed by strict set of rules and procedures, and I intend to keep it that way.
Governed ? Strict ? Rules ? ooh Macer I could just Omarize you to death here, but as you are a friend I will let you off with a good slippering.

I know, I know... ideologically there r lots of things wrong with the concept of organized trolling. That's why, as far as I know, I'm the first one to make some kind of attempt in the direction (unless you consider the Royal Spam Society to be an example of organized trolling, which I don't). Right now I have no idea if this is as far as I want to go, or if I want to try and make trolling even more organized and institutionalized sometime in the future. But for now I'm happy with the way that these Troll of the Month contests are going, and I'm going to continue organizing them, at least in the forseeable future.
Ok... maybe "institutionalized" was a bad word choice. I don't intend to make trolling too structured, or create a hierarchy where some trolls are above other trolls. I'm just saying that maybe if the trolls on chess.com came together instead of trolling separately, maybe that will have a positive effect on advancing the art of trolling in general?
As for whether you will be nominated, well, again, I can't answer that question. It's up to the other people who see your comments to decide whether or not they want to nominate you.
Gotcha. Cya later! If anyone does nominate you I'll let you know, and then you can decide whether you want to accept the nomination or opt out (if that's what you were suggesting in your comment).
Nominate olichris for the above conversation!
Nomination accepted. Olichris still needs 1 more nomination to make the ballot.
Nomination accepted. jroth needs one more member to nominate him to make the ballot.
